Christopher Kelsey.Canterbury,CT2 7TE.
Is the aerial on your roof polarised vertically facing Chartham relay or polarised horizontally most likely facing Dover main transmitter or even Bluebell Hill main transmitter itself.
One possibility is too much signal which could be causing the weak or no signal you are receiving.Try experimenting with a set-top aerial or a piece of wire into your newish Humax box you specified and see how that performs. If the weak/no signal channels suddenly all reappear then too much signal will be the cause in this case a variable signal attenuator will need to be used to deduce the excess signal which is blocking your Humax box.
My best tip is to reset your appliance, then unplug aerial from your Humax box then auto scan from start to finish, the result it will pick up zero channels as such yet clears your device's previous memory. Now after this replug aerial back in yer Humax box and this time manual scan the frequencies instead. It should hopefully do the trick.

Chris King.Being born in Halifax myself in my honest opinion the day Yorkshire TV replaced Granada TV in the town back in 1968 was a big mistake, and i was born the year later. The same happened to nearby Todmorden back in 1982 when Yorkshire TV replaced Granada TV in that town and if i recall many Todmordians were up in arms when that happened, and similarly in 2009 when BBC1 Look North from Leeds replaced BBC1 North West Tonight from Manchester there too.Luckily most households in Halifax especially to the west of the town facing Lancashire can receive Winter Hill transmissions thus listening to BBC1 North West Tonight and ITV1 Granada Reports local news bulletins.

E Williams. It is highly unlikely that Cable TV (or Virgin Media) will be suspect to 4G interference as such.
As the saying goes "Believe it when one sees it" !

Tony,Lincoln. Are you now a freeview viever referring to BBC Look North,Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire regional news from the Belmont transmitter,or are you referring to the BBC East Midlands Today regional news from the Waltham transmitter.I'm not so sure about Waltham as their normal post-digital transmissions does not reach my locality unless in certain inversion effect conditions when i can pick them up seldomly in those circumstances, but as far as Belmont is concerned i'm watching BBC1 Look North,Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire regional news as this very moment in time while i'm texting to your reply as i can definitely pick up BBCA,D3+4 and SDN multiplexes from Belmont mast in my location as such.

Nick.Aldeburgh.As i mentioned in an earlier text to you on Monday 2 July 2012,12.44am,if you decide to opt for Dover go for it.
A good quality semi-wideband group E (brown tipped) X-Beam XB16E aerial plus copper-copper black coloured co-ax cable and brass co-ax plug will be sufficient for Dover transmissions.
Or if you prefer Aldeburgh relay then a group A aerial (red tipped) will do.
