Winter Hill (Bolton, England) transmitter

Brian Russell: DigitalUK should be relied upon for up to date transmitter frequency allocations, as the owner of this website hasn't been able to keep up to date will all of the changes taking place across 1,100+ transmitters. Frequency changes at main transmitters such as Winter Hill are generally completed in the early hours of the morning, everything is usually back on air by 6am. Changes at relay stations can take longer, but are usually completed during the morning.

P woodhouse: Classic FM is only broadcasts from main transmitters, it is not broadcast from Freeview Lite transmitters such as the Marlborough relay. Also, we need a full postcode to see which transmitters cover your location, I'm guessing that you're receiving the Marlborough relay as the coverage checkers only work on full postcodes, not partial or place names.

Kevin Souter: Give the Freeview Advice Line a call (see link below). They can arrange for a replacement wideband aerial to be fitted if required, free of charge if you don't have satellite or cable.

Judy flint: We need a full postcode in order to see the predicted reception at your location (coverage checkers do not work on partial postcodes or place names). Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV and YouView box?

Sally H: Have you lost any other channels? We need a full postcode in order to see whether you might be able to receive any other transmitters (the coverage checkers do not work on partial postcodes or place names).

Mark Hulme : There has been no reduction in broadcast power for any services at Midhurst, however if you have an older Group C/D aerial it is no longer suitable to receive all of the frequencies now being used. If you don't have satellite or cable, the Freeview Advice Line (see link below) can arrange for a replacement wideband aerial to be fitted free of charge.

Glyn: We need a full postcode so that we can see which transmitter you should be receiving. It's quite likely that you have a fault somewhere, have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV?

John F: As per other posts above, you quite likely have a Group A aerial which is not designed to receive all of the frequencies now in use. If you don't have satellite or cable, the Freeview Advice Line (see link below) can arrange for a replacement wideband aerial to be fitted free of charge.

John Buchanan: The changes due yesterday at Winter Hill affected local TV multiplexes only. There were no changes planned for any of the main multiplexes. According to Digital UK, there will be 2 further retune events next year when several main multiplexes will change frequency.

ABID HUSSAIN: The free to air (FTA) channels will just work, they don't require a viewing card. If you leave the card in you will also get a couple of free to view (FTV) channels, as well as having the correct regional versions of BBC/ITV/Channel 4.
