John L Walker: Complain to your MP. It was the government's decision to take away the funding for free TV Licences. The BBC have had to find a balance between even bigger cuts than they are already having to make and continuing to fund free TV Licences for those on the lowest income (overseas travel & hotels take up a tiny amount of the BBC's overall budget compared to all the other things they have to pay for). Replacing the TV Licence with advertising will never happen as the BBC would take a huge share of the advertising market, which would put ITV and other commercial broadcasters out of business.

Rosalind Goodyear: Now 80s is not on Freesat, although you may be able to tune it in manually if your TV has an option for non-Freesat mode.

Graham Osborne: The chart on this page is incorrect, PSB3/BBCB is on UHF channel 30 from Crystal Palace, not 48.

Forces TV
Thursday 11 June 2020 4:20PM

John: It was announced yesterday that Forces TV will move to COM7 on 22nd June, with COM8 closing by the end of this month. You are predicted to be able to receive COM7 & COM8 from either Sutton Coldfield or Waltham at your postcode. To receive it, your TV or set top box/PVR needs to be DVB-T2 capable (i.e. able to receive the HD channels on 101-105) and your aerial needs to be horizontal (i.e. the little rods going side to side) and pointing at a compass baring of 125 degrees for Waltham (Central East regional news) or 220 degrees for Sutton Coldfield (Central West regional news). If you have an older grouped aerial, it may need to be replaced with a wideband type.

jack obrien: Dish is an American satellite provider, cord cutting is not a term generally used here and your location is showing as USA, however this is a UK website which provides technical help with reception problems and does not sell amplifiers or any other products, so I think you may be trying to contact the wrong website (although someone may still be able offer some suggestions).

kevin: Both of those stations are now broadcast using DAB+ so some older DAB radios will no longer be able to receive them.

john elliott: The free to air football is on Pick HD, channel 147. Pick SD is broadcast on a transponder beam that covers the whole of Europe and therefore cannot broadcast football due to rights restrictions, however the HD version of Pick on a UK focused beam which does not carry the same rights restrictions.

Jj Dee: Pick HD is broadcast free to air (FTA) on a UK spotbeam, but should be able to be tuned in manually in Ireland. The version of Pick SD without football is still free to air, however the version with football is encrypted free to view (FTV) and should be able to be viewed on a Sky box with a viewing card without any subscription being required (although perhaps cards registered to an Irish address have been blocked).
