Darren Scutt: Please provide a full postcode so we can see which transmitters are available at your location and where you are in relation to them, along with predicted signal strength etc. Are you missing any other channels such as Pick or Dave which are broadcast on the same multiplex?

trevor bowsher: There haven't been any changes to the availability of ITV3, which has never been broadcast from the Whitehave transmitter. Whitehaven is a lite transmitter which only broadcasts the main PSB channels (and some of their offshoots (i.e. ITV2/ITV4/E4/More4/Film4). The commercial broadcasters were offered the opportunity to broadcast from additional transmitters after digital switchover, but declined (probably because the additional viewers their channels would reach wasn't sufficient to generate enough advertising revenue to provide a worthwhile return on their investment after the cost of the extra transmitters is taken into consideration). This is one of the main reasons why Freesat was setup by BBC & ITV so that the 10% of households that only get a Freeview Lite service could receive a wider range of channels via free to air satellite without paying a subscription (Freesat now has nearly all the channels available on Freeview and many more besides).

Geri fussell : ITV3 is broadcast on a different multiplex to the main ITV channel so a problem with one multiplex/frequency won't necessarily affect other channels. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see which transmitter you're using, where you are in relation to it and your predicted signal strength etc.

John: You might be able to receive Freeview with an indoor aerial if you're in an area with reasonably strong signal. The best type of indoor aerials are ones that look like a smaller version of a roof aerial, avoid anything with a loop or flat panel design as these generally consist of little more than a piece of wire sticking out of an amplifier. If you enter your postcode into this website you will be able to access the coverage prediction for your location. Reception of Freesat requires a satellite dish with a clear view of the 28E orbital position, it is not possible to receive a satellite signal with any kind of indoor aerial.

John Borneo: On Freeview, ITV4 is broadcast on the same multiplex as the main ITV channel so you should find it on channel 24 (unless you haven't retuned in a couple of years).

Roy Jenkins: Film 4 +1 is broadcast alongside the PSB HD channels (BBC1 HD, BBC2 HD, ITV HD Channel 4 HD, Channel 5 HD) and therefore can only be received on a TV or set top box which is capable of receiving HD channels.
Planet Knowledge's website has a page explaining the different ways you can watch and includes a link to their iPhone/iPad app - HOW TO WATCH

MikeP: That's Surrey is broadcast from the Guildford transmitter on C51 and not Crystal Palace, which is confirmed by the Digital UK postcode checker for the postcode given by Mike O'Sullivan. The final few local TV multiplexes which have launched over the last few months don't appear to have been added to the transmitter maps on here yet.

neil margerison: There are no plans for any further transmitters to broadcast the extra multiplexes that you are referring to. COM7 & COM8 are temporary services which are broadcast from 30 main transmitters which cover around 75% of UK households and are expected to close in 2020.
