andy: Yes, the power of the transmissions from Crystal Palace will be increased 10-fold on 18th April.
On 4th April BBC Two analogue will be switched off. ITV1 analogue will go in place of BBC Two analogue. Then the full-power BBC digital service will use the same frequency as was used by ITV1 analogue.

alan adams: The reason is probably because your aerial is only sensitive enough to pick up the Balgownie relay transmitter which only carries the Public Service Broadcaster (PSB) channels.
To get the commercial (COM) channels, you will need to receive from the main station, Durris.
You appear to be in a slightly poor signal area for Durris (which might explain the reason for Balgownie).
A look at your road on Google Streetview shows most aerials to be on Balgownie. Those that are on Durris as larger, higher gain ones. If that's what's needed at roof level, then you won't have a chance with a much less sensitive indoor aerial lower down and indoors.

alan adams: Sorry, I was confused and thought that you were using an indoor aerial. There's no editing of posts either!
In order to get the COMs, you will need to receive from Durris. Whether you can do and what sort of aerial you will need in order to do so is another matter.
As I say, I spotted a few high gain aerials on Durris in your road, so you might be able to do this.
Durris is at 17 degrees and the aerial should be horizontal. Balgownie is at 219 degrees with the aerial vertical.
Be aware that if there's a tree in the direction of Durris, then your chances of success may be reduced.

Paul: They will go up 20-fold and will be increased the same power as the other (standard definition) multiplexes.
HD services available before switchover is not the norm. Crystal Palace was one of four Freeview transmitters nationwide selected to carry HD before switchover. It was shoehorned in on UHF channel 31 which is also used by Sandy Heath and Reigate. Consequently the footprint coverage is not as big as the other channels (so as to reduce the likelihood of interference).

Willie: The Film4 signal, known as a multiplex, (which also carries Pick TV and others) is on low power from Sudbury until 27th June. Judging by comments from many people on this website, it is proving troublesome to receive, with many having to go without.
As for why one TV might pick up a signal that another won't even though it is connected to the same aerial, there are two possibilities that spring to mind (assuming no interference local to one and not the other):
1. Sensitivity of equipment is different.
2. The loss along the length of cable from the point that it is split is different.
There is another possibility and that is that the multiplex moved frequency (UHF channel) in November. Check that on the LG it is on ch63 (do this by going to Pick TV on number 11 and bringing up the signal strength screen). It was previously on channel 50.

Mike: Further to Briantist's suggestion, it is perhaps worth pointing out that the signals for Pick TV and other programme channels are on low power from Mendip and that this will remain the case until 28th March.
Arqiva A (Pick TV etc) is currently on Ch67 at 26kW and will move to Ch56 at 100kW on 28th March.
Arqiva B (Yesterday etc) is currently on Ch52 at 25.7kW and will stay on Ch52 but will be increased to a power of 100kW.
The other four multiplexes are currently at their full final power of 100kW.

Perth relay BBC A on Ch49 is in red which denotes that it will be changed at some point due to the 800MHz clearance for 4G mobile services.

Vivien: If the TV is only a digital one and does not have analogue channels, then it won't show the output of the Sky box.
Post the make and model number and we may be able to confirm either way.
