Sue Gill: It's not likely that the commercial broadcasters will install transmitters at Bath.
They choose where to site their transmitters and operate so as to generate a profit.
They currently cover around 90% of the population from approxiamately 80 of the largest (by population) transmitters. For them to broadcast from the other 1000 or so relays would roughly double their costs of transmission. They were asked if they wished to increase their coverage and declined.
As Pete Green says, the best thing you can do is have an aerial installed for Mendip. Note that two of its commercial multiplexes are on very low power until 27th March, so this might affect your reception until then.

jb38: Bath is Group A and Mendip is C/D, so might require a different aerial for Mendip if Sue's is an A one.

That said, Film4's multiplex is at lower power than that of the Public Service Broadcasters (PSB) from Rosemarkie. That said, perhaps the high power PSBs are acting to desentise your receiver to the lower power Arq B (Film 4).
There is no such thing as a "digital aerial" (or a "digital arial" for that matter, other than the typeface on a digital computer).
I suggest that you confirm that all channels are tuned correctly. Do this by viewing the signal strength screen on the following services and observing that the UHF channels to which they are tuned are those of Rosemarkie and not another transmitter such as Rumster Forest:
BBC One C45
STV C49
BBC One HD C42
ITV3 C43
Pick TV C46
Yesterday C50 (this is the same mux as Film4).

Greta.: You say that you have "changed" from Freeview to Freesat. Surely you have not had your terrestrial aerial removed. The most obvious answer is to watch via Freeview.

David: UTV is the Channel 3 operator for Northern Ireland. The letters stand for "Ulster Television".
"ITV1" is the branding that the operator ITV Plc uses across the regional Channel 3 licences it operates.

L.GRIGGS: I should imagine because the signal from Rowridge transmitter is not on full post-switchover power (i.e. it is not on high power equivalent to that of the analogue channels).
Switchover comes on 7th March and 21st March.
Commercial multiplexes (Film4, ITV3, Dave etc) will not come available to you until 18th April and you will likely have to change your aerial from being horizontal to vertical in order to receive them. You should not (hopefully) have to change your aerial to receive Public Service Broadcaster services (BBC, ITV1, C4, C5 and others).
I am assuming here that your aerial is pointing at Rowridge, as those I can see on your street on Google StreetView are.

Solent-Viewer: The first stage of switchover is on 7th and is expected to be completed by 6am (probably before if all goes smoothly).

Having retuned your receiver, you may well find that the timer programmes will be lost.
At the first stage of switchover BBC Two analogue will be switched off and BBC standard definition digital channels will move to being full power. All other channels will stay as they are.

j.clarkson: Referring to Ofcom | Tech Parameters , the North East England multiplex went live on 12/06/01 and the Tyne & Wear multiplex went live on 21/11/00.
