Andy G: The fact that your neighbours have no signal points strongly to it being a fault with the aerial system.

Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) transmitter

Gem: Some devices do give the option to select transmitter, but the transmitters aren't identified by their name, but by the (principal) area they serve. Hence Belmont is E Yorks/Lincs.

Belmont transmits a different edition of Look North to that from Emley.

Having read the instructions for your model, I think that you need to do another autosetup and this time select "Yorkshire" as your network (rather than East Yorkshire/Lincolnshire).

Gem: Sorry, I didn't take note of what you said above; that your husband has carried out a retune and that it didn't ask which network to go for. You asked how to find out if it's now tuned to the correct signal (Emley Moor).

The answer is probably to go to the "Signal quality" meter for some channels. On BBC One, it should say 47 for UHF Channel. For ITV1 it is 47. For HD channels it is 41. For ITV2 it is 51. For Pick TV it is 52 and for Yesterday it is 48.

Gem: Sorry, ITV1 is on UHF Channel 44 now.

I was thinking of how it was on analogue!

Alistair: Yes, Sky Sports is on ArqB.

Have you tried carrying out the procedure outlined here to "blank" your receiver and then tune it in?:

Alistair: I'm not familiar with the BT Vision box. I've looked online and this page suggests that it doesn't allow manual tuning:

If it's wrong, then I would try manually tuning. If not, then there's not a lot you can do.

fay: There must be a reason that it reverts to "no signal" If there wasn't, it wouldn't do it!

See this page:

You appear to be in an area served by both Hemel Hempstead and Crystal Palace transmitters. The former may be stronger at your location, and as such, if your aerial points at Crystal Palace it may have decided to tune to Hemel Hempstead instead.

Where is your aerial pointing?

Michael Talbot: Many many people are reporting the same issue. See here:

Sudbury Arqiva multiplex B changes 16 November - retune required | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice

The answer seems to be that you're going to have to wait until 27th June 2012 to get them back.

Simon: On suggestion is to resite your aerial.

I too am having issues with picture freezing with a loft aerial. I had no such issue prior to switchover and watched digital TV all the time!

My signal is very strong (90% on my Sony). I have moved the aerial and it has cured the problem on the worst mux, but it has now shifted to another one with another not far behind!

I am thinking I will have to move it again.

Simon: Mark Fletcher makes a very good point. You might turn your aerial to Sutton Coldfield's direct, retune your box and pick up its ArqA on C45.

I note that the Digital UK coverage predictor suggests that you will have a good chance of picking up all Sutton Coldfield's muxes.

Google Streetview shows most aerials apparently pointing to Sutton Coldfield. I can spot one on Winter Hill. They are all large things on tall masts.

Moel-y-Parc is more or less at right-angle to Sutton Coldfield. You could try constructing a shield to put in your loft space at the side of the aerial that faces Sutton Coldfield. It will need earthing. Maybe some wire mesh will do the trick.
