Conor: It rather depends on the contract that Channel 5 have with Sky, and if they wish to renew it.

Film4 HD would be an excellent addition to Freesat.

Mark: DAB+ introduces only a new data compression layer to the system, it doesn't change the nature of the COFDM transmissions. So DAB+ receivers are backwards compatible, so using it for transmissions renders DAB equipment useless.

DRM/DRM+ is a totally different type of technology which is designed to "fit into" existing radio broadcast bands, whereas DAB/DAB+ uses a section of the old VHF TV network allocation (a quarter-channel per mux).

Conor: If Ofcom could take the licence away from UTV, it would have to re-advertise it to all-comers and not just "hand it over" to another.

Quite what the madness of making UTV exclusive to Virgin Media customers is about is anyone's guess.

Given the lack of Freeview HD services in the province until late this year, there's not much damage to HDTV sales as such, but it makes no sense at all for UTV HD not to be on Freesat (and Sky of course).

Graham: It's poppycock, the final commissioning testing of Crystal Palace happened ages ago.

Even Digital UK's report says "Crystal Palace main transmitter: ... TV (digital) working normally.

Peter Henderson: I can't see UTV not dealing with the issue by 24th October 2012, really.
