Freeview reception at LE4 2AR

For reliable and stable Freeview reception, you need an unobstructed path between the TV aerial on your roof and the digital TV transmitter. The map below shows the transmitters predicted to provide a signal at this location.

You can click on any transmitter symbol to show the coverage area as a green overlay on the map. Double click on a transmitter symbol to go to the transmitter information page.

You can also view the ten closest potential '4G-at-800' mobile phone masts within 1.5km of the selected location - these masts may be used for 4G-at-800 mobile broadband services from 2013-2015.

Have been experiencing infuriating interference on Freeview in the past few days and particularly today (2.7.14). Constant break up of video and audio signalsand loud noises from set.s Problem present on all three sets in the house. Could it be due to engineering works or transmission problems. Have re-set all three sets several times to no avail. Advice would be much appreciated.

your location would be a perfect start to see if the local transmitter has any issues

Thanks Jamiie - I did include the postcode in the 'details' forming part of my question but it did not appear in the 'post'. It is B45 but as far as I can there are no engineering works taking place at any of the related transmitters.

with no engineering works this means you have a problem with your system. It has either developed a fault, maybe a faulty part or ageing system OR your system strength and quality is marginal rather than good, marginal systems will generally work well most of the year but can become more problematic over time especially in hot weather.

Philip C:
Your starting point should be to ask your neighbours who also use Freeview (and not Sky or FreeSat) if they are getting the same effects. If they are then it's not you equipment. If you are using a communal aerial system like the neighbours you ask there may be a fault in that system that needs the attention of a specialist engineer engaged by the property owners. If, however, your neighbours have the problem and are using theor own separate aerials then it could be atmospheric problems that often occur with hot weather.

Miss Linda Glease:
The simple answer is no, not all the Freeview services are available via the internet. To view them you need equipment designed to receive the UHF signals and to decode them from the digital format into sound and picture. That requires a Freeview equipped TV set of esle a box designed for Freeview reception.
Likewise, your Acer Tablet computer cannot of itself receive and display FreeSat programming.

For the past eighteen months I have had "no signal" mainly in the evenings.
I am certain that this is due to weather conditions , either high pressure or heavy rain. If this is the best service I can expect and nothing can be done about the situation which is coupled with transmitter problems then it is a very poor state of affairs when the old system worked perfectly for decades.

What I am unable to understand is that following a channel search I find i have a choice of two transmitters. One says Kent, the other East Sussex. Kent is suggested as the best reception. Even when I accept Kent, I end up with East Sussex, The whole system is very poor and I am not only dissapointed but angry too.
My aeirial is fine and the thing works fine for 85% of the time the remaining 15% is rubbish and ruins a programme that one is watching and then suddenly goes off with no signal sign.

What the hell are the benefits of this system I ask and why was it changed knowing that there would be problems from transmitters and weather interferences?
