Want to watch BBC three or CBBC in HD? You need to retune your Freeview box
Brian Butterworth published on UK Free TV
OK, not too much to look at today, but if you retune your Freeview HD (or Youview) box you will see two text screens:
Channel 73 is for CBBC HD, and 105 for BBC three HD (sorry, Channel 5 HD, you have missed your Freeview slot!)
Thanks to the ever-vigilant Sharealam for spotting that, as well as 63 being ITV3+1.

John Clemence: BBC FOUR HD/CBeebies HD as well as BBC News HD will be starting on the two new HD multiplexes.
CBBC and BBC three have the highest viewing figures, it makes sense for them to go first.

About time to they could have done this when Five rejected the Freeview slot. The BBC has realy been draging its feet for the last few years. Still no HD in the regions. I assume this will mean that red button HD will be dropped. I would have prefered BBC Four.
No sign of these on satellite yet.

Why Channel 73 for CBBC HD? I thought the last major retune was to sort the Freeview channels into some sort of order i.e. all the HD channels in the 100s?
Have they forgotten that bit?

Bob Huckin: The Digital UK consultation returned that the public wishes Children's channels on Freeview to be "kept together, for the sake of the children".
It also returned that people wanted the HD channels on the "normal" numbers, but that can't be done yet - Digital UK on Freeview HD channel numbers: "we can not do that, sorry" | High definition | ukfree.tv - 11 years of independent, free digital TV advice

Trevor Harris: BBC Four HD will be launching as soon as the Freeview HD extra multiplexes are on air.
According to Al Jazeera, this is going to be "before Christmas".

Which MUX are BBC Four HD / CBeebies HD (presumably they'll timeshare one stream) and BBC News HD (which will have to be a separate stream) going to be on - COM 7 or COM 8? Considering that'll be just two streams, there'll still be room for Channel 5 HD, ITV2 HD, More 4 HD, E4 HD and Film 4 HD, plus others, will there not?

Nicholas Willmott: There will be TEN slots on "COM7" Freeview HD extended service from 2014 (com7) | ukfree.tv - 11 years of independent, free digital TV advice and "COM8" Freeview HD extended service from 2014 (com7) | ukfree.tv - 11 years of independent, free digital TV advice ?mux=com8 .
One will be BBC FOUR HD /CBeebies HD. One will be BBC News HD.
We know one other will be Al Jazerra HD. Al Jazeera launches new Freeview HD wave
Channel 4 said they would provide "at least one" HD channel (Film4 HD seems likely).
Leaving six we don't know.
I'm guessing the BBC three HD going on 105 says that Channel 5 HD isn't likely.
Remember that Sky have "exclusive" agreements with some HD providers.

Do you mean 5 slots on COM 7 plus 5 slots on COM 8? I wouldn't have thought there'd be room for 10 slots on one mux.

Nicholas Willmott: Yes, that's TEN in total. Five on each, as per PSB3.
