If you want to watch different programmes on different TVs, you need a decoder for each.

With satellite, you will also need a "Quad LNB" on the dish, as each satellite decoder requires a separate "LNB" connection for each.

For digital cable and Freeview, the incoming cable can be split and shared.

There are a few options (such as the Pace Twin PVR) that can be used as a decoder for a second room, using only a standard connection for the second TV.

If you simply want to be able to watch the same programme in a second room, this can be done using a standard TV "UHF" cable.

Derek: You can use a "video sender" such as these devices - Results for VIDEO SENDER .

However, the do cost a lot more than a basic Freesat box - Buy Bush Freesat Digital Set Top Box at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Set top boxes. - but you would need to wire the box to the dish. If you had "Sky Multiroom" this would be simple and free to do.

Derek: Freesat boxes do not have RF modulators in the same way as does most Sky boxes and so you will have to purchase a separate RF modulator, this being connected into your Freesat boxes scart socket.

Hi there.
I have a basic sky box ( not sky plus or HD), and I have been bought a tv with built in free view and DVD.
I was also bought a 5.8 GHz av sender/receiver as part of the gift; (so i could watch sky channels) but I've tried to set everything up, but the av sender/ receiver isn't working.

I contacted the customer helpline (TV) for set up difficulties, and was told by the advisor that the av sender/ receiver won't work on my tv because it has a digital tuner only, whereas the sky box only sends analogue signals so the sender won't work.
Is there anything I can do to combat this problem ?

I didn't really want /need a tv in my bedroom but liked the idea of watching sky channels there. It would be a shame that they both become unwanted gifts.
HELP!!

Thanks in advance.

Marlene : If you are referring to a standard video sender then the senders "receiver" is coupled into the bedroom TV's scart socket and the sender (transmitter) into the Sky boxes AV2 socket, the point to remember being that your bedrooom TV's AV button (or input select) has to be set on the AV1 input and NOT DVB so that the TV is connected to the senders receiver.

The TV's tuner does not come into the equation.

Marlene: By the way, the helpline you contacted must have assumed (incorrectly) that you were intending to connect the Sky box to the bedroom TV via the usual method of running a coax between the boxes RF1/2 and the TV's aerial socket, this method only working on TV's fitted with analogue or dual analogue / digital tuners, your new TV obviously not!

Hi there
I'm a little confused. I have got the av sender plugged into the back of my sky box via a scart lead into the port which says VCR. The other scart point is on the sky box is from the tv to the sky box itself.
The av receiver is connected to my tv in the bedroom. It is set to the same channel as the sender in the living room, but when I put on the av channel on tv in the bedroom, the tv displays there is no signal.

Marlene : The point with a video sender is that the TV its connected into does "not" receive Sky via the tuner but through its scart input socket, the tuner is not involved.

The channel on the video sender is "not" referring to TV's channel but the channel used by its own receiver, as with any device of that sort you might get the situation where you were picking up a neighbours video sender or vice versa, this being why the manufacturer offers a choice of channels (usually 5 or so) so that in the event of interference being caused by someone else's sender you just choose another channel

In other words, what you have is a transmitter and a receiver and so both have to be matched to each other.

joe: More information is required, such as the model number of the decoder and what you intend to view it on in another room, likewise its model number also being required.
