My Sky box has a "no signal message" - what do I do?
If you are getting the message "no signal" this would indicate that there is a problem with the signal from your dish into your box. Even without a card inserted into a Sky Digibox, if there is a signal, you will always get Sky Guide and the free channels.
Try powering off your box, remove the card, check carefully the cables, especially the connection to the dish, reapply the power and then when asked to insert your card you should then be able to see (for example) Sky News on 501 and the BBC News channel on 503.
Once you can see any channel, reinsert your card. This should, after about one minute, give you the channels you expect, such as 103, 104 and 105.
There are three ways you can attempt to reset your box. Please see
What can my do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' ?.
If you continue to get "No signal", you dish may have been misaligned, or there may be a fault with the cables and connectors, or a problem with the Digibox. You can see the signal strength by pressing SERVICES, then 4-SYSTEM SETUP and 6-SIGNAL STRENGTH.

Assuming you have a current Sky subscription, you can use Sky Go to download and view a number of their programmes. Have a look at Sky Go and Sky Go Extra - Watch TV from Sky on your mobile, tablet or laptop and then you can decide whether you want to sign up for the service.

My sky box was getting a no signal to my sattiite box sign was coming and I tried all the exercise to get it started and it did not happen I called the number and was told I would have to pay for the engineer to come and they came and told me that my sky box was not getting the satilite signal to the main satilite in my building so why was I not told this on the phone and made to pay for it when she could have been able to do so from the information I gave because I am still getting the scrambled channels for the last ten days I feel that I should not have to pay for something that she could have been able to understand and given me the right advice

farida Johnston : Did you explain you were using a communal aerial system? If you did not then how do you think they might know?
In any case, if you are using a communal aerial system it is your responsibility to ascertain whether it is working properly or not. You were warned about the charge beforehand -- the obvious thing would have been to check with neighbours who use the shared satellite dish.

My Sky HD+ box keeps picture breakup on certain channels . I was asked if I wanted to join a sky protection package when my warranty runs out, I got in touch with sky which stated that the warranty has run out so I should get an engineer to call. Since then I have had a second hand HD+ on demand box! is it easy to set up oneself or do I require a TV installer to connect to sky. I've been told that each box needs to be calibrated to a viewing card. Any help would be much appreciated.

rose: Should the problem mentioned be referring to a Sky box?, (standard / Sky+ or Sky+HD) then try placing it in standby for a minute or so before disconnecting it from the mains supply, waiting for a further minute or so before reconnecting it again and allowing it to go through the searching for listings procedure.
Should though a Sky box not be involved, please state the type of device you are referring to, i.e: Freeview or Freesat.

ann: Try disconnecting the box from the mains supply "after" having placed it in standby for a minute before doing so, leaving it that way for another minute or so before reconnecting it again and allowing it to go through its usual set up procedure, something which can take around 3 minutes to complete before it starts responding to the remote control.
Although the aforementioned usually clears problems of this nature, if though it doesnt! then use the "new install" procedure.
1 : Press "Services" on your Sky remote and you'll see the "Options" menu
highlighted.
2 : Press the right arrow to select "Settings" then press on.
3 : Press (in smooth succession) 0 - 1 - Select then you will see the
set up screen.
4 : Press the right arrows to highlight "Install" which then changes to New
Install when you do this - press "select".
5: Follow the instructions on your TV screen until you see the message
"Installation Complete" is displayed then press select.
However, before carrying out any of these two procedures, try swapping the LNB1 and LNB2 inputs over and check that the "no signal" problem remains the same, which it should!

I was watching BBC2 this evening (Sunday 29th). The programme finished so I changed over to BBC1 and the signal failed. The message was says the HD box isn't getting a satelite signal.
What could possibly go wrong by just changing channels? I had been watching Sky Sports most of the afternoon.
