My Sky box has a "no signal message" - what do I do?
If you are getting the message "no signal" this would indicate that there is a problem with the signal from your dish into your box. Even without a card inserted into a Sky Digibox, if there is a signal, you will always get Sky Guide and the free channels.
Try powering off your box, remove the card, check carefully the cables, especially the connection to the dish, reapply the power and then when asked to insert your card you should then be able to see (for example) Sky News on 501 and the BBC News channel on 503.
Once you can see any channel, reinsert your card. This should, after about one minute, give you the channels you expect, such as 103, 104 and 105.
There are three ways you can attempt to reset your box. Please see
What can my do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' ?.
If you continue to get "No signal", you dish may have been misaligned, or there may be a fault with the cables and connectors, or a problem with the Digibox. You can see the signal strength by pressing SERVICES, then 4-SYSTEM SETUP and 6-SIGNAL STRENGTH.

vinnyv: When you say "tried swapping cables over from other rooms" are you meaning on the Octo block?, as the problem referred to is inclined to point to either (1) that the port used on the LNB (Octo block) to feed the signal into the room with the problem has failed, or (2), that the "F" connector screwed into said port has been shorted out by water ingress.
"If" its possible to trace the coax running from the room in question all the way back to the LNB, try swapping the port used by the "F" connector over with any of the other 7 ports, as they are all the same. If this cures the problem then the port the connector was removed from is defective, if on the other hand it doesn't, then unscrew to "F" connector from the coax and check same for any signs of water.
That said is based on nothing having happened to the coax running from the bedroom in question to the LNB.

To help us offer anything meaningful we a few more details. What type of Sky box do you have and is it connected properly to your dish. An idea of your location might help as weill, this in the form of a postcode (or that of a nearby shop or public building).
Do the lights on your box show correctly? What is shown on the TV screen?

Lynda: If you are referring to "Sky" multiroom? then can you still access the menu on the black HD box?, should you be unable to, try disconnecting it from the mains supply for about a minute or so before powering it up again and see it this rectifies the problem, if it doesn't, then try replacing the batteries in the remote control, if this still fails to rectify the problem then the box is defective.
If though on the other hand you can access the menu? then a fault could have developed in either the coax cable feeding into the black box, or the port on the dishes LNB that the coax is connected into is defective, the only way of ascertaining if this applies or not being by temporarily installing the box in the main room boxes position, if it works, then the aforementioned (coax/ LNB) problem is responsible.
Of course as an alternative to the aforementioned, you could try temporarily installing the main box in the black HD boxes position, if it works, then the black HD box is defective.
By the way, if using the latter alternative method and your main room box is a Sky+ type, just use the the boxes LNB1 input for the test.

Hi
I used to get the the free channels through my Sky digibox but on returning from a couple of weeks away I am just getting the No signal message. I have turned everything off and on and I have checked all the cables - scart and dish. I can access the menu but there is no sound.
I live in SW France.
Help gratefully received
Thanks

Terry:
May I suggest that you perform a complete shutdown of your Sky box, by turning it off with the remote control (so even the faint green light goers out) and then unplug the mains lead either from the wall socket or from the back of the Sky box. Wait at least 2 minutes, then put the mains plug back in again and wait a further 5 minutes. That is tio allow the box to reset it's memory of available channels. After that turn everything back on and check what channels you are getting, programme 101 should be your local BBC1 service.
Let us know if that resolves the problem, please?
