My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

g wilson: When you say it doesn't work through the HDMI lead is this with "it" only being connected to the TV? and with the HDMI input socket used on your TV selected via the input selector button on its remote?
What I am meaning is, not to have the scart and the HDMI connected at the same time, as its either one or the other.

Hello,
I live in Maidstone and yesterday (Sunday 15th Jan) had BBC1, 2, 3, 4, Cbeebies, News.
Now they have disappeared (16th Jan) on both TVs. ITV, C4, C5 etc all OK.
Any reason for this please? Have done a factory reset on one TV but still no BBC set of channels?
Thanks, Mel

Mel P: I guess that you might be receiving (or not as the case may be!) from the Bluebell Hill (it would be helpful if you would say).
There was another report yesterday of someone in Maidstone who was having issues:
Freeview on Bluebell Hill TV transmitter | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice
There was work at the transmitter last week.

Hello Dave,
I didn't know where my signal came from!
Now BBC is back and most other channels have gone!
Must be unscheduled engineering work?

Mel P.Look up inversion effect,that is the cause of yer difficulties at present.There is high pressure over much of the UK at present including over Maidstone.There are no transmitter problems around ya location as such,just atmospherics/inversion that is causing your difficulties at this moment in time in your location.

hi all, I live in Northern Ireland, Londonderry and i use the limavady transmitter on a built in freeview t.v and never had a problem with it but on october 2011 i lost every channel apart from republic of ireland radio stations. I got myself a freeview plus box last month hoping that it would help but still no change, i starting messing about with my aerial but still only the same radio channels so i upgraded my aerial to a wideband which cost 50 pound so i fought that this would solve my problem easy enough but nope it didnt, am thinking because its in my attic that this could be the problem and i should install this to my rooftop? any suggestion from anyone?
thanks Caolan

My mother lives in the Clacton area. The freeview signal for ITV1, channel 4 and channel 5 is fluctuating sometimes with video/audio available, on other occasions unavailable on these channels. Have tried retuning. Are ther any issues affecting the Sudbury signal at present? This started happening on Sunday.

We live in Holland on Sea, have been having problems with viewing channels since Sunday, originally it was ITV channels, last night none of the channels would store after re-tuning but after several attempts managed to get them back only to loose BBC channels about 9.25 last night. Tonight Channel 5 keeps breaking up, I give up it is so frustrating. Seems as soon as we have very cold weather the TV plays up!!
