My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

SO19 7NR...Southampton..Meridian...All signals say 100% Q. My Aerial can almost see Rowridge
I have two RDR-HXD870 Sony DVD/HD recorders, Same age, same software version (1.7). The EPG on one is complete, but on the other, all channel EPG's on MUX 33 are missing, i.e. Yesterday,Film4,ITV4 etc. BUT all those programmes are present, which I able to record manually
EPG's on Mux's 24-27-30-37 all OK
I have done all the tests including using the same aerial for both. All my TVs are OK. I've scanned with no Aerial to remove channels more than once .I have even re-scanned the good one, to see if MUX 33 disappeared, but it still re-populated the EPG. I can't actually find out how to Factory Reset though.

Martin, we live in Lymington SO41 and can pretty much see the transmitter. We also have the Sony HXD870 which won't show the epg for film4 and some other channels. The tv it connects to Sony 40v3000 shows film4 listings but the Panasonic freeview tv upstairs also has a sketchy epg. All were working perfectly before the switchover. I only did the retune when i returned on the 24th on all three items as I was on holiday from 3rd march so was away for the first retune on 7th.
Parents in hordle also SO41 and same equip as me and same issues! This is crackers!

Since I posted on Thursday, I have contacted a friend (Warsash) who also has the same recorder (RDR-HXD870 Sony). His also does not show the EPG details for MUX 33. So, that is 2 out 3 have failed, & those of Lee's post,above. I tried to get help from Sony support, but couldn't get past signing up or logging on. Mux33 frequency of 570.2, lies inside the outer frequencies of MUX 24=498mhz & Mux 37=602mhz, so it's not out of the tuners range.
It defies logic. It's just a good job that I know it is possible to receive Mux 33 ,because it works on one of my machines

I'm using a new blackgold tuner card in my htpc, since istalling I only get welsh channels instead of granada/northwest. the previous card had no problems getting northwest. I'm in ch433ad. I have an Ariel on the roof.
Cheers

Paul Butler: One of the simplest workarounds might be to unplug the aerial lead for part of the scan in order to avoid the receiver choosing the unwanted Wales transmitter.
You've said that your aerial is on the roof, but have alluded to which transmitter (or direction) it is facing, which is crucial to any plan to avoid the unwanted and get the wanted.
The most likely transmitter for your area would appear to be Storeton which is to your south east (and the aerial will be vertical). If this is where your aerial is pointing, then Storeton Granada's channels are low ones; all others that you be picking up are above those used by it.
So run the automatic tuning scan and unplug the aerial and unplug it at 25%, or once it has passed channel 30, if it gives channel numbers whilst scanning.
There may be other methods, such as the software may allow you to configure it manually or having stored the incorrect (Wales) channels, alter it to the correct ones.

Here in Brighton, Since the switch, all the tuners I've tried pick up 3 weak multiplexes from Rowridge (they're down in the 20-30 UHF scale).... the boxes are dumb enough to try to use them (even though they find a stronger version later).
The Tip of unplugging the aerial during the first bit works.
Not sure what is going on 4th April... they say ANOTHER retune ?

Hello, I live in South Devon and would like to know if I'm about to lose ITV3 and 4 in the upcoming switchover April 2012. I get my signal from Stockland, and don't know if it's a relay or a direct. (We've had a lot of cross channel stuff via Crystal Palace.) Help-a-dope day please????

Jack Hughes: Yes, on 18th April (which is the final switchover date for Crystal Palace) the power the Commercial multiplexes from Stockland will rise from 10kW to 25kW.
Because the same channels and modes are being used, it will not be necessary for you to retune.
