My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

i have a freeview tv in one room and a
freeview set top box with tv in another room.
the set top box has auto tuned into winter hil
only with 100% signal quality and this is the second set top box to do so. my freeview tv for some reason scans and installs channels for both winter hill and moly parc. unlike my tv with freeview set top box, this double scan is degrading my winter hil channels, signal quality 57%. both my tv's are served by two identical aerials fitted on the same mast. i find this ridiculas, if two set top boxs can suppress the moly parc signal and install winter hill [correct] whats happening with my freeview tv.

a lot of older freeview boxes will no longer work correctly because of the newer type of freeview signal.

brian gibson: While it's recommended that boxes tune into the strongest signal, this isn't enforced. Some equipment just tunes into the first signals it finds. For suggestions, see Digital Region Overlap.

mike clowes: Try unplugging the box from the mains for about ten minutes, then plug it back in. It may be the same problem that is causing some boxes to switch back to BBC One when you select a different BBC channel.
'Technika' appears to be Tesco re-branding other people's hardware and I'm finding it difficult to find support resources for this box.
Dave: While this is true, it's unlikely to apply to mike clowes' problem as he's referring to a Freeview HD box, which have to comply with a tighter spec to get the Freeview HD logo. A list of known incompatible equipment is available at http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/2kequipment and there's a list of equipment known to have problems with the Split NIT at http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/splitnit , though that problem first surfaced in 2008. We live in Chilwell, Nottingham, in a rented house. The landlord installed an ordinary aerial in the loft when we moved in 3 years ago and we bought a Technika Freeview box from Tesco which worked fine on all channels. Now the switchover has occured and we can only get BBC1,2,3,and 24hour News. Will a new Freeview aerial work if we put it in the loft and, as we have now bought a second Freeview box for an upstairs TV, do we need any other equipment to split the signal, as suggested by Amazon. We don't want to go to the expense of having an outside aerial fitted as we may not live here for much longer. Your advice will be most welcome. Thank you.

Have had a Bush BTU160DTR for a while with no issues. I noticed yesterday that the 14 day EPG doesn't go past next Monday (it's Saturday today). Have rescanned, powered down & rescanned with the aerial out then rescanned again but still no EPG after Monday. All the channels are fine. Postcode is LN6 0UQ.
Any suggestions ?

Lynn Gaynor: Loft aerials are unsuitable for reliable Freeview reception, you should fit an aerial to the roof.
