To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

I use the Rosehearty transmitter on my bedroom television and up until yesterday had no problems. Now, when I switch channels it comes up with Freeview No Service. I have tried to retune my television and now can receive BBC channels only. Ie BBC1,BBC2, BBC4, ALBA. Does this mean the end of watching telly in my bedroom?

Michael Salmond: Retuning was a bad idea as you have now deleted several of your channels which were correctly tuned to begin with. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Does the bedroom TV use the same aerial as any other TVs in the house or does it have it's own?

I cannot receive PBS America on channel 94 here in Stockport as when I re tune it only gets up to channel 91 then jumps to channel 213 .
I have a modern HD tv and large antenna with signal booster .

I have lost the signal for BBC1 HD, BBC2 HD, ITV HD, CH4 HD, CBBC HD, channels 101 to 105 and 204. They were ok up to about a week ago. I am in Swindon postcode SN3 1BL.
Receiving my signal from the Seagry Court transmitter instead of Oxford (to get Mendip broadcast instead of regional news that didn't cover Swindon but Oxford and the South Coast).
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Seagry Court does not transmit COM7 or COM8 services so some of the HD channels are not there to receive.

Please could you tell us what the signal strengths are (not the quality) for all the multiplexes you get and what channel they are on. Then we can check whether your aerial is suitable or if there is some other problem.

Please provide a full post code so that we can check which transmitter you are using and what the expected reception is like.

Alister MacIntyre:

If you put your post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker, found at…ker, you will see that the Torosay transmitter is very poor at your location. It would be better to use the Oban transmitter instead as that will give you three multiplexes with expected good reception. The details will be given on the Coverage Checker.

BTW, never give your full address on any public website. That will invite all sorts of unwanted attention, even in your area.
