To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

G Atkinson:

You are right on the border of the area served by Waltham, so that is unlikely to give perfect results. Likewise using the Nottingham transmitter has reception problems due to the terrain.

Not knowing the exact geography of your location it is difficult to make any useful suggestions. I do know that you have some hills nearby and they are likely to cause recption problems for you.

You might consider using Freesat instead of Freeview? Basically the same range of programmes but received via a satellite dish with a Freesat receiver box plugged into your TV.

Ok I stay EH67LQ & had problems with not getting all my channels on my Hitachi tv which has built in free view. If i connect a freeview box to tv and retune the box i can get all the freeview channels. How come i'm missing channels on my tv & not the box. & can this be fixed at the transmitter end?

stuart craig: If the channels are present on your set top box then there is nothing to be fixed at the transmitter. Does your TV have the HD channels at 101-105 when using the inbuilt tuner? At a guess your set top box has a newer DVB-T2 tuner which allows it to receive HD channels and the TV's inbuilt tuner does not. Model numbers will help to confirm.

The television shows that 'Yesterday' is on low power.
This has been like this for some time and I doudt that this is so.
The local transmitter site is Tacolneston. 10 miles away.
Can you tell me what channel 'Yesterday' broadcast on from Tacolneston ?
I suspect the aerial is picking up and auto tuning to Sudbury.

Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,

Robert F Kidd

Robert Kidd: Check your actually tuned to Talcneston - go to its page and look at what channel BBC1 is broadcast on. If it matches, your on Talcneston. And you can also check if that transmitter is broadcasting that channel.

Yesterdays mux i probably less powerful than BBC1, etc, but if its very low and your on the right transmitter, and you are just 10 miles away, something is very wrong with your aerial. I suspect your feeling about Sudbury might be correct.

Robert Kidd:

The Tacolnston transmitter is not on low power at all.

Please firstly provide a full post code, as is requested, so we can check what the expected signal reception is likely to be at your location. Secondly list the channel (not programme) numbers you are tuned to and compare them with the listed channel for the Tacolnston multiplexes (find that by entering your posy code and house number into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at http://www.digitaluk.co.u…ker, then secrol down to the list for Tacolnston. Ensure you are tuned to the correct channels, manually correcting any if needed.

Please provide a full post code so we can see what the expected reception conditions are at your location. We have no idea where you mean by Budock Water as there is no transmitter of that name. There are over 1100 transmitters around the UK.

Hi there, I live in Faversham, Abbeyfields me13 8hr. Our BBC signal is poor most days and retuning is often a forlorn experience. Many of my friends have the same problems around the town. Is there a solution please? Regards Lindo.

Lindsay Burden:

Your location is shown as being very poor for Freeview reception, see Coverage Checker - Detailed View The alternative is to use Freesat.
