My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Jo Oughton : There are no faults showing for the Redruth transmitter (predicted to give the best coverage at your postcode). Retuning will never fix a weak signal and often makes things worse as you are just deleting all of your correctly tuned channels and searching for them again. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV?

On the 22nd Oct we had no bbc channels at all, although all the other channels were available. Yesterday all the channels were available. However this evening
, the 24th,the same problem has arisen - all channels available except for all the bbc ones. I have carried out a reset as advised on your website with no effect. My aerial is pointing at the Mendip transmitter and has a booster fitted and powered up. My postcode is GL5 4DF.
WHAT IS HAPPPENING ?

Ongoing problems in this village with TV reception. Reception has been particularly poor over the past few weeks with more often than not C4 and ITV channels not available.
We have have tried unplugging and rescanning procedures as suggested but to no avail

Peter Toon and Hunter:
PLEASE DO NOT RETUNE your TVs. The current atmospheric conditions are giving rise to high pressure which is affecting signal propogation and there is nothing anyone can do about this natural phenomenon. In some cases it may affect just one multiplex but other may also be affected as well. Patince is needed until the weather patterns change.

We have lost channels 101.102.103.104.105. On the BT box. On the main tv we have sound sync problems on the same channels from the Kirkby Lonsdale transmitter.

We are had interference on most channels on and off for a couple of weeks. Auto tune sometimes helps and sometimes looses several channels. (varies 90 - 142)

Janet Shephard:
Retuning never resolves interference, it only looses you some channels in that situation. Somplease do not keep retuning.
Please also provide a full post code so that we can determine the expected reception coditions at your location. There are over 1100 transmitters broadcasting Freeview and we need to identify which you are likely to be using.
