My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Phil Glen:
You should be getting a reliable signal from Craigkelly according to the Digital UK Coverage Checker as you are only 30km away. As it is apparently mainly affecting just one multiplex I suspect you have a poor connection in your aerial system (that is well known in the trade to be a common cause). So please check all your aerial cables and connections thoroughly. If there are coaxial plugs/sockets please unplug them and then refit them (that removes and corrosion/oxidation that is, again, a known cause). If there is any visible damage to any cable then it needs to be replaced as it could be letting water into the system which is highly undesirable.

MikeP: Thanks for that Mike I will check these connections. I have since found a masthead amplifier in the loft and wonder if my signal is too strong as I have 100% signal and 100% quality could this have anything do do with the problem.

Phil Glen: If you are seeing 100% signal strength then the tuner may be being overloaded. If your amplifier has a gain control try turning it down a bit, otherwise try an attenuator.

Phil Glen:
As StevensOnln1 states, 100% is far too much and is overloading your tuner. Turning down the gain of the amplifier, if possible, will help. You ideally need around 60% to 85% signal strength shown on your TV.

Phil Glen: Hi Mike the connections seem ok the aerial cable is connected to a Wolsey amplifier in the loft which feeds four TVs and all are F plug connections .

Phil Glen:
If you cannot turn down the gain of your splitter/amplifier then you need to fit a coaxial attenuator into the cable feeding the affected TV. These are available very cheaply from the likes of Amazon and others. They come in different strengths, 3dB, 6dB, 12dB, etc. Try a 3dB first and if that does not reduce the signal strength to less than 90% or so then try a 6dB. Always fit a new flylead between the attenuator and the aerial socket on the back of the TV so the weight of the attenutaor does not 'hang' on the socket.

Steve: Have you checked that there are no loose or damaged connections on the aerial lead? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see your predicted signal strength etc.

Steve:
First thing is that we need your full post code so that we can see what the predicted reception is like at your location.
Secondly, check that the BT box is tuned to the correct channels. Look these up by using the Digital UK Coverage Checker in its Detailed mode and scroll down to the listing for the preferred transmitter. That will give you a list of all the available multiplexes.

Hi. I've lost almost all my freeview channels. I have the BBC ones but nothing else. I live in TN16 (Westerham in Kent). The signal is not very good at the best of times but this is the worst I have known. I have tried retuning but am down to 25 channels.
