My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Please provide a full post code as requested, a partial code is no use to us in finding out the predicted reception conditions at your location. You could be using one of at least three possible transmitters and we need to see which you are likely to be using.
Meanwhile, please check all your aerial cables and connections, unplugging any coaxial plugs/sockets and then refitting them. That will clear any possible corrosion/oxidatiopn from the contacts as that is a known cause of problems such as you report.

Hi,
I seem to have lost all the channels from the COM5 mux transmitting
from Pontop Pike. ie Dave etc.
This is not publicised by the website as no faults appear to be
acknowledged.
I'm getting channels from all the other muxes fine so don't think
it can be a fault with the aerial or receiving equipment.
Any ideas?

Ian: What signal strength are you getting on the other multiplexes? Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted coverage etc.

Ian:
An aerial fault can affect just one multiplex. Experience shows that a poor connection can be the cause. So please check all your aerial cables and unplug all the coaxial plugs and sockets. Then refit them. That will clear any corrosion/oxidation from the contacts and could well return your system to good working order.

Michael Dobson:
You are just 2 km from the Fenton transmitter and should get strong signals for all eight multiplexes. So please check all your aerial connections and unplugg then refit all the coaxial plugs to clear any possible corrosion/oxidation. Then check what signal strengths are being shown for all eight multiplexes as they may be too strong and overloading the tuner. Ideally you need strengths of between 60% and 85%. If they are higher than that you need to fit an attenutator into the aerial feed using an additional flylead so that the weight does not 'hang' on the coaxial input socket.
You previous post code is further away from the transmitter, so the signal would not have been quite as strong.

We are situated on a high position in the Rayleigh, Essex area. What is the best direction for a Anglia tv signal?

To give any meaningful assistance we need a full post code.
You can enter that into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at http://www.digitaluk.co.u…ker, enter a house number and select the Detailed View option. Then scroll down to see which transmitters can be receivced at your location.

My Samsung TVs won't save any channels and I have to retune every time I switch it on. It takes about 8 attempts for it to pick up more than 6 channels. I have tried a reset but it still does it. The to is quite old. Any advice so it stores the channels please?

It rather sounds as if the TV has a fault that is preventi g it tuning and storing channels properly. If that is the case then a replacement TV would be the only solution.
