My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

I have 3 seperate Freeview boxes and have lost several multiplexes on each of them. I have re-tuned one box which now has only multiplex B. I now understand that my new neighbour has has a dish installed; could that be the cause? How would we cure the problem, do i need a raised aerial, is there some form of in-cable filter i can install??
HELP, it's Cup Final day and my sons and i have no way of watching it!!

Kevin: For general advice, see Freeview reception has changed? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice - a dish won't hurt your reception, unless it has been put right in front of your aerial.

I am thinking of cancelling my Sky subscriptions but would like to continue watching Sky Sports 1 & 2.
I heard that it was possible to purchase and insert a viewing card into the side of my TV, which has Freeview built in, where a dummy card currently exists.
I've so far only been able to see Top-Up TV and BT Vision as the possible alternatives.
I there another option?

During the forenoons of the past week or so (15th May 2011) I have been receiving either an intermittent breaking up signal or no sigal at all on channel 10 (ITV3) from Durris Transmitter. But in the afternoons everything worked well with no signal problems at all.
On the forenoon of 16th May all freeview signals appeared to suffer from intermittent break-ups.
Can anyone advise what is causing the above symptoms and are they likely to continue?

Many tanks for all yur elp. After two f us retuned the b******d thing 4 or 5 times we've got acceptable reception back on all the usual channels. I remain convinced that "someone" has modified the quality of transmissions from Belmont so that only our hghest quality, professionally installed aerial worked adequately.
I've arranged for a new installation for the outdoor aerial that I installed above a gable end, and will sort out the in-loft one sometime.
As to saving cable using a splitter - I doubt it which is why we run the shortest possible to each of the 3 main sets, it would take 25 metres to r end to end without ay vertical lengths. For years we found set-top ones OK when our children were allowed sets in their own rooms, those days are past - but we didn't change anything; we just lost certain channels.

I live north of Huntingdon (PE26), I am tuned to Sandy Heath (Cambs & Beds) with strong 78% signal level.
I have HD TV, but cannot pick up the HD channels (50-54).
Any ideas?

Tim: A lot of TVs were sold as 'HD Ready' before the UK authorities had figured out how they were going to broadcast HD. To maximize the number of channels in the minimum space, the HD picture is encoded with MPEG-4 AVC (also known as H.264), and the multiplex is broadcast with DVB-T2, essentially a new version of DVB-T, giving about 67% more capacity.
Strictly 'HD Ready' only means that the TV can handle HD content provided by another box. Many 'HD Ready' TVs with built-in digital tuners would not even have been able to handle HD-size pictures encoded with MPEG-2 and broadcast in DVB-T, as I believe some countries do.
To successfully receive HD through an aerial in the UK, you should look for a Freeview HD logo. This indicates support for AVC, DVB-T2 in the UK mode, and the special encoding of the EPG data unique to Freeview HD.

Unless you want to wast hundreds of pounds on a new TV,
you can buy a new Freeview HD box for £20 and plug that into your current TV to view the HD channels.
