Now I understand the reasons for moving BBC 4HD. My set in my living room will pick up 4HD if the aerial is direct to my TV. But if I use my splitter box to use my TV in my bedroom not only do I now get no BBC 4HD signal on my main TV but 4HD has totally gone from my bedroom TV. This used to have all the channels before the re-tune. I have just attatched a signal booster and this has made no difference at all. I find it particularly frustrating that we had to go digital by 2012 (having to buy new TVs or digital boxes) and now 6 years on is my TV obsolete at only 2-3 years old?
I receive my signal from the crystal palace tower.
I find it terrible that now I can not fully utilize my equipment because of the re-tune. Will I ever get BBC 4HD again on my bedroom TV? Or have all of South London lost BBC 4HD as well? If yes what a way to treat everyone who outlayed a lot of money on new digital TVs and pay their TV licence like I do myself.
Look forward to receiving your thoughts on this and a solution if possible that will cost me no further spending. Especially when the channels were fine and working before the re-tune.

Stuart: Your TV is not obsolete. If it could receive BBC Four HD before the frequency change then it is still capable of receiving it now. You most likely have a Group A aerial which is not designed to receive the higher frequencies that the COM7 & COM8 multiplexes are now using at Crystal Palace. If you don't have satellite or cable you may be eligible to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

Further to that said by StevensOnln1, the Crystal Palace transmitter covers most of London, not just South London.

Well I checked the signal and channel which I receive BBC 4 hd on my main TV. And with a straight aerial connection the signal is around strength is around 50%. As I stated above if I run through a splitter to have TV in my bedroom the signal is not strong enough. I have managed to get signal other strength around 41-44% in my bedroom on a straight connection so have a glitchy reception now but BBC 4 hd nonetheless. Is pointless using the splitter and with the signal booster the signal is so weak it doesn't register.
So therefore does anyone know if they will making the signal any stronger? As 50% to my main TV straight through is poor to start with, let alone the glitchy reception I now at least receive on my second TV.

Stuart: Two things leap out at your answer
1) Your getting just 50% signal strength - that's surprisingly low for some on in South London! You have to ask the first question - are you tuned to the correct transmitter? A postcode would be a great help, but check that your tuned to the transmitter you should be.
If you are, then you have a problem with your aerial system. Signal strength should be checked on all mixes, to see if it's just one mix. If it's hitting a lot if them, then it's probably not just your aerial being out of group.

If your signal strength is as low as 50% then you are probably using a passive splitter. That will reduce the strength supplied to each TV by 67%! That would then explain why all is good without the splitter in use. You solution should be to try an active splitter, with mains power, so that the delivered strengths are between 60% and 85% - anything less or more will cause the problems your are reporting.

All the other channels receive a 100% signal. It's just where they have moved BBC 4HD and the relating channels to now. Just a 50% signal and that's without a splitter connected but one straight lead direct from aerial socket to my TV. Are they transmitting these channels at the same power as before or has been reduced? I live in the SW19 post code. And also in a small block of 6. All I can say is that before the recent re-tune all channels were received on both my TVs using a standard splitter box without a problem.
My parents who also live in the same area have lost The channels related to the recent re-tune as well.
Anyway thank you both again for your replies to my problem.

If you are in SW19 then you are using the Crystal Palace transmitter. COM7 is now on channel 55 and COM8 is on channel 56. They are outside of the range covered by a Group A aerial that was traditionally used for Crystal Palace reception, which explains why most of the channels are fine but some are not. You now need a wide band type aerial. A good log-periodic aerial will be excellent and they are not expensive.

It's signal quality.
Like I mentioned the TV closest to my aerial socket will receive all the moved channels at 50% signal quality. All other channels are 100% signal quality. But after manually retuning on channel 56 and receiving a signal quality between 44/47% on my second TV with a straight connection (no splitter) this now occasionally picks up a signal. Channel 55 however I am getting no signal quality at all.
I'm not impressed with whoever moved the channels to these new locations as obviously it cannot only be myself who is having these troubles. I do wonder if they need to up the power their end? I will have to try and find an active splitter as was suggested by MikeP. As the signal booster I have doesn't help at all. So to watch on my second TV I'm now changing the aerial lead every time I use my other set.
Unfortunately I will not be getting a wideband aerial fitted anytime soon as I'm sure my housing association will not deem this necessary for the loss of a few channels.
Anyway I would like to thank everyone who has given me their help on this matter.. Thank you again.
