Hope:

BBC4 HD is now carried on COM8 and requires a TV that is Freeview HD capable. Depending on which transmitter you are using, you may b=need a different aerial as many now broadcast it on Channel 56, and some need a wideband aerial to receive that.

In Plymouth I receive BBC4 HD on Com 8 from Caradon, using a wideband (colour code black) antenna in the loft.
Until earlier this year all was fine but then the signal started dropping out, with my YouView box showing only around 30% signal strength at the worst times, compared with 98+ % for channels not on Com8.
During the recent dry weather the signal strength has increased to 50% and the problems have gone away for now.
I notice that the transmitter power on Com8 is much lower that for the other multiplexes. Is the poor reception a common problem for Caradon users? What can be done?

My camping' satellite receiver, a digital satellite receiver SL 30/12 works very well but I can't get BBC4 SD. The box doesn't pick up HD unfortunately. I have searched the channels but can't find a channel number on Astra28E. Can you help please?

We can only receive BBC 4 HD via the VCR, but not through the Samsung (not very) Smart tv. Disappointing.
The antwnna is the same: in the VCR, and through to the TV.
Any ideas?

Steve Seeds: Do you mean that you're receiving BBC Four HD through a PVR? There are no VCRs (video cassette recorders) that have a DVB-T2 tuner (I'm not sure if there were ever any produced with a DVB-T tuner) capable of receiving HD channels. Do you have BBC One HD and BBC Two HD on the Samsung TV?

Steve Seeds: There have been several posts about Samsung TVs having low sensitivity tuners. My own Samsung does not see BBC4 HD at all (broadcast on COM8 from Rowridge) while my Humax PVR receives a signal at 40% strength which is just about adequate. It does not help that COM8 is transmitted at a miserable 18.4kW, so if everyone with an interest contacted BBC, Ofcom, DigitalUK, this issue might be registered.

Hope: About a month ago BBC4 HD + other HD and +1 channels were removed from the Caradon Hill Transmitter. Little warning was given that this might happen and research has indicated that this was to provide space for 5g. I have tried to complain to Freeview but no response so contacted OFCOM but was effectively told hard luck 5g is more important than you receiving BBC4 HD.
Any useful comments about what I can do about this would be helpful

Mike Knowles: We are all paying for 5G one way or another and those of us losing stations are treated with bureaucratic indifference by Ofcom, DigitalUK, etc. It seems we should be grateful to get BBC4 SD, or we can switch to Sky, Freesat or BBC iPlayer.
