From Wikipedia: The ITV1 brand was introduced by Carlton and Granada in 2001, alongside the regional identities of their eleven regional companies. However in line with other terrestrial channels, ITV1's audience share has fallen in the era of multi-channel television. ITV existed in a region-heavy form from its inception to the 2000s, although the switch was gradual. - en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org link icon read more about ITV 1 (SD) on wikipedia (summary by Clipped).

Hi, for a few months now iv been having a problem with my tv where sometimes it has perfect signal to all channels and others it completely loses channels just off the bat. I have retuned, then woke up the next day and almost all my channels are gone again. The ones I really struggle to get seem to be ITV (3), Channel 4 and channel 5, also all of the plus channels (ITV+1) and so on. I have installed a complete new ariel, followed tutorials on retuning my tv and manually tuning but none of it seems to be working. I have found my transmission tower, but no idea how to imput this. I have a Samsung tv with built in freeview, it is not a smart tv. I really just need help with this. Someone suggested it could be that I have a video player still attatched o my tv but I have found that removing this doesnt really help. We have had a booster ariel and a new ariel put in and still I am loosing channels and when they are gone they take days to come back.

Jordan:

We need a full postcode to look at the predicted reception at your location and which transmitters and multiplexes you might reliably receive. Which transmitter do you think you are receiving?

Can you tell us exactly what aerial you installed? Did you replace the coax downlead?

Bob Milton:

Without and idea of where you are - full postcode needed - and which transmitter(s) you are predicted to receive, we can't answer the question. Retuning when you have lost signal is a bad idea as it just clears the correct tuning.
I assume you are talking about ITV SD channels, and you can still get ITV1 HD?
Many transmitters have Planned Engineering, there maybe Weak Signal or Service Interruptions and without further information we can't solve the problem.

Hi there,
Similar issue to others in that channels in PSB2 MUX (ITV, ch4 & 5) have disappeared from the TV (we are on the Caldbeck transmitter).
They have come back previously but disappear again.
Any ideas?

As per previous post, really need a full postcode to double check, but I can't find any faults currently listed by Freeview or the BBC. Have your signals returned?

Mike Davis:

Hi. If you are getting the normal ITV1 and ITV2 OK, try a further retune BUT as follows -
Unplug the aerial and do an automatic tune. This should clear memory of all channels as nothing should be found. The plug the aerial back and repeat the retune. Hopefully everything will be restored ok.

For which channels are on which multiplex, see Channel listings | Freeview

If you are still missing the channels, post back with more detail of any other channels that are missing.
Check in your TV tuning section what the signal strength and quality are for UHF Ch.34 which is the one for the ITV multiplex with those channels. You might find the information under Manual Tuning, or Signal test, or similar.

Jim Good: Are you watching ITV HD on 103 or ITV SD on 3? There is currently only 1 version of ITV Meridian available in HD on Freeview so you will get the news for that sub-region if you watch in HD. If you switch to ITV SD on 3 you should get the correct news for your region. There is currently only one version of BBC One HD for the whole of England, which does not carry any regional news, therefore you get the red screen telling you switch to SD. All of this is due to change next year (although no exact date has been given) as the BBC have announced that they will be launching regional versions BBC One HD and will share the cost with ITV for providing fully regional HD channels on Freeview.
