I live across the Severn and receive Freeview from Mendip. During switchover and various retunes I received some BBC Wales channels - presumably from Wenvoe - but these were replaced by Mendip ones during later retunes.
Assume I could retune again and get specific Welsh channels from Wenvoe as well as my usual ones from Mendip. Particularly want to get S4C. How do I go about it?

Jed,West of Swindon. You can try inputting the PSB multiplexes of Wenvoe manually if your appliance allows it.BBCA (BBC1 & BBC2 Wales) is on frequency 41,D3+4 (ITV1 Wales and S4/C) is on frequency 44,and if your appliance is Freeview HD,the BBCB (HD) multiplex including S4C Clirlun on frequency 47 itself.
However bear in mind that while your normal Mendip multiplexes should remain as they are on the programme channels list (currently 1 to 728),the Wenvoe PSB multiplexes will be stored in the 800+ channels list with a few notable exceptions, these being BBC Radio Wales on programme channel list 719,BBC Radio Cymru on programme channel list 720,Channel 4 (again) on programme channel list 8 (Wenvoe equivalent),S4C Clirlun on programme channel list 53 if your appliance is Freeview HD (DVB-T2 compatible). As ITV1+1 (ITV1 Wales) are already on programme channel lists 33 from both Mendip and Wenvoe, the Wenvoe equivalent will not be stored if Mendip's equivalent is already stored on programme channel list 33,(the same will apply vice versa if Mendip were in the 800's,Mendip's will not be stored). If you have Freeview HD apparatus, from Mendip the ITV1 HD on programme channel list 51 will be from ITV Meridian Southampton, while simultaneously from Wenvoe the ITV1 HD somewhere in the 800's programme channels list will be from ITV Central West. Also bear in mind from Mendip only Channel 4 HD (South adverts) will be on programme channel list 52.As both Mendip and Wenvoe are now fully digital switched,if Mendip is in your normal list you will find that Wenvoe's COM multiplexes SDN,ArqA and ArqB will not duplicate in the 800's list, the roles will be exactly the same vice versa if Wenvoe was in the normal list, the COM mux's from Mendip will not be stored as such.

S4C signal from Moel-y-parc has disappeared(as has ITV Wales).Which UHF channel is it on now? I don't want to re-tune fully my Freeview equipment as I live within range of 3 transmitters and end up in chaos taking a lot of time to sort out.I do manual search of individual UHF channels- takes minutes.BBCs Wales are OK.

J.Zarach: They have moved to C39. You may be able to manually tune or your may have to do a full retune depending on the design of your receiver.
Unplugging the aerial during part(s) of the scan can sometimes work to avoid unwanted transmitters, although it requires knowledge of where the wanted and unwanted are in the scan.

Well - as S4C is the only UK channel now to air the World Rally Championship I'd do anything to tune in to it...however since the analogue switch off I can no longer get it from Cheshire - as to Welsh Language, why the hell not? The English spent 7 centuries trying to obliterate the language right up until the 1970s and beyond, the least they can do in penance is pay for a small low cost channel to keep it alive!

Thomas: You an watch S4C anywhere in the UK from satellite.
