To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

We live in post Code AB31 5RT. Our reception ( also the neighbour's) has been pretty bad since Xmas- We have several TV's with an attic areal - with a booster -8 way connection - Pic was fine- and one morning on 26th all TV's were pixelated badly- did every thing- rescanned- TV's- as per your procedures, checked areal/booster- etc -nothing worked- I asked our neighbour they said they had the same problem. Does the Durris transmitter have any issues recently ( Holiday season?)

Monz:

Hi. Not a good idea to rescan when you have pixellated pictures or no signal. In most cases it will just clear the correct tuning that you had. Retuning does not affect signal strength or quality.
I can't find any recent reports of transmitter faults, and it's not on the current list for Planned Engineering.

The fact that you and a neighbour have the same problem suggests that you may have some local interference if it's not an as yet unreported transmitter fault.
Is this affecting all TV channels, or just some of them - if some which ones? Are they exactly the same as your neighbour's?
Have a look in your TV Tuning section for Signal Strength and Quality figures for each multiplex's UHF channel, it maybe called Signal Test or in manual tuning. It will vary from model to model.
Posting the figures may help identify an issue.

Have you had a postcard from restoretv.uk at all, or have there been any new mobile phone masts spring up nearby - especially on the line of sight to the transmitter?
LED Xmas light and other gadgets can cause interference, try switching off anything that wasn't on prior to the problem. Even your neighbour's gadgets could affect you and visa versa.

graham clapperton:

As noted on the Innerleithen transmitter page, there was a brief fault on the 29th December but how/if it impacted DTV is not mentioned.
There are currently no reported faults at the transmitter and it's not on the list for Planned Engineering.

If you retuned at all when you had no signal or very badly pixellated pictures it will most likely just have cleared your correct tuning and you'll need to retune again when signals are normal.
Also do basic checks, such as make sure all you coax plugs/connections behind your TV are ok. Look at your aerial and check it looks intact and is still pointing in the correct direction and that the downlead is secure and not flapping in the wind.

If you still have a problem, check with neighbours if they have the same issue and post back if so.

At the moment we receive our transmitter service from Stockland Hill which serves
Devon mostly. But we live in Somerset near Wells, where the nearest transmitter to us
is the Mendip transmitter. Could we have our aerial realigned to receive from Mendip.
At the moment reception is pretty good except a few Freeview channels break up and a
few channels are missing. If we could change to Mendip would our service be better.

Frank Rogers: We need a full postcode to be able to see the predicted reception at your exact location, but give how close the Mendip transmitter is to Wells it seems likely to be possible, assuming there aren't any hills or buildings etc in the way.

Yesterday 04/04/2023 the HD channels on all our smart Tv's (4) began to have problems with Lip syncing. It's miles out, I've done all the checks as advised, all Tv's are fed from an SLX8 Amplifier in the loft (Checked as well - power is on!) nothing can be done with regards to the syncing using the built in TV's delay settings, they don't make any difference. We are in NE68 and receive signal from the Chatton Transmitter. It seems really very odd that this problem is affecting all TV's at the same time. Note that all the Non HD channels are lip syncing fine. I am thinking that there maybe an issue with the SLX and will replace. Any ideas that you may have to rectify would be most welcome. Mike.

Mike Cadwallen: There no possibility that lip sync issues could be caused by your amplifier as the signal it is amplifying is comprised of one combined data stream for each multiplex (unlike an analogue channel there are no separate audio and video carriers). Are all of the TVs the same make and model?

Mike Cadwallen: In that case I'd suggest reporting it to the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 & Channel5 (see links below) as it is happening on multiple different TVs in different households, which would suggest that it is happening in the transmission chain somewhere, rather than anything in your home.
