Channel One to close, Challenge to come to Freeview

Changes to Freeview after Sky buys VTV channels

Changes to Freeview after Sky buys VTV channels
published on UK Free TV

Sky is closing one pay and one free channel from the portfolio it bought from Virgin TV, because they match channels already provided by Sky.

Bravo and Channel One (which was Virgin 1 and before that FTN) will close.

This means that the Channel One slot on Freeview will be replaced with the quiz show channel Challenge.

Challenge is now in the Freeview guide on 46. If you can't see it yet, please follow these instructions on your set-top box or Freeview TV: My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv.

We're paying for the same programs twice or three times over. Channel One repeated Star Trek on a rolling basis and any other programs were simply put there to entice people to take up Virgin Subscription. Every time a new series ran on Channel One, after the first run it would mysteriously disappear to SKY or one of Virgin's other channels. Let's face it, the 'Big Idea' about more choice is actually leaving us all with less choice. The BBC and ITV are an undiluted diet of viewing diahorroea, meaningless and mediocre 'talent' shows and reality TV. American style TV without even a hint of apology. Profit before quality.. Rupert Murdoch is now in a position to make everyone pay for TV Shows that used to be paid for by our Licence Fees!

You know something... I have their unlimited broadband and i'm gonna hammer the hell out of it with internet tv and downloads to make sure i bt least get my money's worth from those greedy £@#ers since they want to take so much from the poor. If i did have a Sky subscription i'd probably be saying i'm planning to cancel that too in disgust, but i can honestly say that once the brain boil cooled down i'd end up keeping it, so i guess the broadband thing can be my little protest.

The freeview channels are indeed bringing more choice to the viewers, Alas it's like the choice between Earache, Toothache and Piles

Saxon: How true, but we will have more choice as we now have spontaneous zombification as well.

Bally python:

Captain Janeway (Star Trek Voyager) is now on Sky Atlantic for just one or two hundred pounds a year.
Star Trek Enterprise, Star Trek The Next Generation and Star Trek DS9 have gone to boldly go where no man can find them.
And Sky are not like the Ferengi. I like the Ferengi.

Big Brother Sky are at it again! I got rid of my Sky set-up 6 months ago and haven't regretted it one single bit. I have watched 'Voyager' over & over again and would do the same today, but alas it's not there anymore. And, just as Steve asks, what's going to happen when series 2 of 'V' comes on. I'd bet a pound to pinch of s**t it'll be on Sky One. It's a crazy ol' world we live in these days. Come on Janeway, get us out of this mess!
