Hi braintist

I got two technical-ish questions

1. Just wondering how local TV in the UK can get. Are all the transmitters in the uk able to transmit different programming? For example in Kent can someone in Dover get different BBC1 or ITV1 programming to someone in Ashford, Margate or Canterbury?

2. Are there plans for a smart version of freeview, similar to sky where you need an address or something so that TV can be localised more?

random questions I know, but cheers in advance

ideasman: After switchover there will be the Interleaved Frequencies for Local TV on Freeview.

2. Freeview HD already does this.

Shaun Gibson: You head incorrectly. You can't record/play/pause without a subscription - see Upgrading from Sky+HD to Freesat+HD | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Briantist: I have noticed that there is an encrypted channel appeared on Astra 2D transponder 50 (Frequency 10847, Vertical). This is the transponder that carries the BBC HD channels, BBC HD and BBC One HD. It is shown as a HD channel and is identified by its SID number 6942. I wonder if this is were Channel 4HD will be transmitted from and eventually be FTA.

NottsUK: I thought that we already know where Channel 4 HD will broadcast from, 12607 vertical on Eurobird 1.

Good to hear that I can stop paying Sky and still watch a large number of channels. I have a Sky+ HD box, will I still be able to use the recording facility?

Phil Wedgwood - When you cease to subscribe SKY will disable your boxes recording capability. You would need to purchase your own "Freesat" recorder and swap over with you current SKY box.
