To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

I get more channels (Bristol) using a set top bunny ears aerial than I do on the roof aerial; specially I can't get BBC1,2 England on the roof aerial (BBC Wales is strong) but can get BBC England weakly on the bunny ears.

I get ~ 70 channels on the roof and ~ 110 on the bunny ears; the main channels I watch are BBC 1 and 2

Cheers

Kevin

Kevin: You might expect this if your rooftop aerial is pointing at a "Freeview Light" transmitter, rather than one with a full service. I can't really say for sure without a full postcode.

Hello. I have a technika tv with built in freeview. I stay in a rented flat and had a tv point put in two weeks ago by the landlord. When I came in all the channels were tuned and working, however since the day after I have been losing channels, mostly the BBC channel and the other ones broadcast on those bands. Usually resetting as instructed solved the problem but tonight I can only get the 10 channels that come on the ITV/channel 4 band and nothing else! (well rabbit and gay rabbit are there!!) I've tried resetting but to no avail, sometimes I get up to 20 channels but never the BBC ones tonight. :-( if I go to manually tune I am getting no signal on channels: 21, and 31- 68. And the ones I do get vary and also vary on the 'quality' indicator. I've tried moving my mobile out the room and the other other appliance running is a small fridge freezer on the other side of the room. I stay in Dumfries and my postcode is dg1 2rq.

If anyone could offer any help I would really appreciate it. I really fought with the landlord to get the tv point put in so am saddened I can't see many channels!

Thanks in advance.

My main transmitter is Sudbury and since the weekend I am getting a very blurred BBC 1 and BBC 2 (these were fine after 1st stage (7th July).
This only appears to be affecting my main TV as another one seems all OK.
I have reset twice now and no change. All other channels appear to be fine.
Can you please advise ?

SJ: 'Blurring' can be a sign that the receiver is on the verge of being unable to correct all the errors in the signal. Since it's just started happening, my guess is that this is due to too much signal, which is causing distortion. If you have a booster, you should remove it now, or turn it down if you lose channels when you remove it. If not, consider adding an attenuator.

Today I turned on my TV, I receive Freeview through my Toshiba hard drive. The TV guide is only showing the current program, normally I can see the programs for the current week. I have tried retuning the channels but the guide is still not working. Does anyone have any suggestion as to how I can get the full guide back?

Kevin: Very interesting... your rooftop aerial could be pointing at three transmitter you should be able to receive all the signal from: Mendip, Bristol Kings Weston and Wenvoe.

Rea: I would check to see if you, or the landlord, is using a booster. If there is one, you need to remove it.
