My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.
rugbyfan: It's hard to be specific without a postcode, but the usual explanation for the problems you have is that your signal is now far too strong.
As I have said above, if you have any boosters or amplifiers, remove them from the system.
If you don't, try fitting an attenuator, they cost about a fiver.
As you have not provided a postcode I can't work out if you have a Digital Region Overlap | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Since 31st August - I am getting poor freeview reception - some channels are just blank - I have re-tuned both TVs a number of times, still the same problem. The TVs have inbuilt Freeview not a seperate Box. The TV in the bedroom - states " channels not tuned in" while the downstairs TV - states " weak signal check Antenna"
I hope you can help. The TV aerial is only 4 years old.

I am in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, I retuned yesterday as advised, since then I cannot get any TV guide for BBC2 on my freeview box in the living room (Digihome is the name on the box in the living room, Thompson is the one on the bedroom box, both are with TopUpTv), yet i can in the bedroom, they are running off the same ariel. I have retuned twice, and done a full set top box reset three times, none of which helped, in fact on one retune I also lost the guide for Bbc3 and Bbc4, luckily they returned on the third rescan of channels. My postcode is DN84TF, I believe I will be on the Emley Moore mast. My Ariel is a digital Ariel, I have no amplifiers or anything plugged in. I've had no guide for BBC2 for over 24 hours now, and its not coming up for any days in the next 2 weeks.
Any ideas or known faults for this area with the BBC channels please?? Everything worked fine until yesterday.

Bought a Bush Freeview Box at the weekend - installed with no problems - all channels received fine. Freeview TV in the bedroom upstairs also fine. Tuesday at 6 when I put Channel 4 on it just made funny noises, same with ITV and Channel 5. Re-tuned on Wednesday, and 6 times subsequently and ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 don't even come up on the EPG! Contacted the Digital Switchover people who said we should be receiving all those channels, contacted Bush who said we needed an attenuator, went to Maplins and asked and was told an attenuator will make it worse and we need a booster. Came away empty handed and confused. Any advise would be appreciated.

I am dreading the 14th, first retune day for Oxford. Reading these comments is there a change over that has worked without problems because it doesn't appear so.

Liz: As your problem involves reception strength (or possibly lack of!) you really have to provide your post code to enable your possibilities to be checked on.
This is because of the fact that an over powerful signal can in many cases give exactly the same symptoms are one that is too weak, so one of the contradictory replies you were given has to be correct.

Futher to my last post - I tried retuning again, I've now not got any guide for Bbc2, Bbc4, and many other channels. I changed the guide from the 14 day extended guide to the 8 day guide, I could get all the channel guides on that, but only for the next hour - completely useless for recording things when I want to go to bed, or go out etc. Never had any problem until yesterday, I don't blame you Robert for dreading the switchover if this is anything to go by :((
