I could get four HD Channels until a few months ago when at first they started breaking up. I retuned my TV and now can't even pick up the stations at all. Can you please tell me if this is my TV AS the website says I should get all four. TV company say its the poor Crystal Palace signal, but it says it's good. Our guarentee will be out by the time of the change over. Please help!

Heather Marshall:

I am in the exact same position. I used to get all my HD channels and then over night they vanished, I retuned my TV including factory settings and disconnecting the Sky feed and retuning and managed to get them back albeit for 5 mins and then got a message saying signal is lost and that was that!

I am fortunate that I have freesat built in and having also followed the guidance on here have split the Sky + coaxial cable and this has given me the full range of channels available.

I hope for the many that have also lost the HD channels they will, one day, be found!

Sorry I can't be of any technical help to you.

I am in West Molesey, Kt8 2hf and have a humax HD PVR, which until about 2 weeks ago could receive all the HD channels, albeith the had a habit of breaking up when the weather was bad. Now I cannot receive them at all? Nothing has changed at home, so I can only assume that Crystal Palace have been messing around with the HD transmission?

Andy: Some people had problems when Sandy Heath started using C31 for the SDN multiplex, but you should not really have a problem with that.

There have been no changes at Crystal Palace, I would have a look at Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

If nothing has changed at home, surely its the transmittter?

Andy: The BBC say that there is no problem with the transmitter. Given the millions of homes served by the transmitter, it is much more likely that you have a localised reception issue.

My LG Freeview HDTV receives terrestrial Freeview channels without any problems but when I select a Freeview HD channel, more often than not, the channel picture is broken up and distorted or displays a 'no signal' message. Switching the TV off and on several times eventually allows the HD channel to be accessed and subsequent switching between HD channels seems to work no problem as long as the TV is left switched on. But switch off the tv or move to a non-HD channel and there is no guarantee of returning to any HD channel without going through the same routine.

I have a loft aerial and a signal booster.

Any thoughts?

George Houliston: If you are receiving your signals from the Penicuik transmitter at roughly 3 miles away, then the signal level received could possibly be on the verges of being excessively high for your HD tuner and is peaking over the top on occasions, as HD is always affected first.

For a test try by-passing your aerial amplifier by feeding the aerial directly into the coax down lead straight to the TV.

Another point to note about overload conditions being, that the signal readings seen are always totally out because of data corruption, and usually always indicate low or even at times 100% strength accompanied with zero quality.
