My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.
SMcG: Choose a region you want for the primary channel number allocations, the "extra" channels will be placed in the 800-899 channel range.

I have a HUMAX HDR-FOX T2. My aerial is pointing to the Waltham transmitter in. For the last 2 Saturdays at 9.30 pm I have had the following message displayed "There is a power surge on this HD channel in 2 minutes and will close down do you want to continue watching" can anyone help why this has started to happen
Many thanks.

Ok I am a tad confused here. I have followed the great advice on this site but I am still in the land of frustration. Using my Humax Box I did a scan without the aerial. (I am trying to make E mid the predominant signal but the box insists on W Mid which is weaker) I then did a manual scan on Mux Ch54 which gave me every channel inc BBC?? These are now stored from 1 to whatever? So are these now E mid channels and how can i find out? I may throw the whole lot out of window soon as I set the recorder in the 800 BBC1 region for the apprentice and the timer came on but nothing was recorded.Grrr

Glenn: C54 is ITV/C4/C5 from Waltham.
I'm not familiar with the receiver you're using, so I'm just throwing some ideas your way.
You say you can manually tune. Can you 'blank' it and then manually tune each of the muxes you do want?
Or, if you are trying to tune to Waltham, then its muxes are from C54 to C61 (and C29).
Sutton Coldfield's muxes are C39 to C46. If the autotuning shows the UHF channels as it scans them, then unplug your aerial when it's scanning the SC channels. If you don't get it plugged in in enough time to get the channels you don't want, then maybe you can add them in manually.

Hi Dave. Bit techo for me mate. I did a scan with aerial out and then saved the zero channels.Then put aerial back in and manually set it to scan ch 54. This gave me every channel on the East Midlands inc BBC???? all at 81% signal. Mind you I have just got in from work and not switched on from last night so could be getting a signal from Hong Kong now.

I have to digital boxes and they have suddenly stopped working from Sunday. One of them will not go on at all and the other one says there is no antenna signal but when I disconnect the freeview boxes the tv works

Glenn: No problem. HEre's something you might try (if it's not fixed) and this is along the lines of what you've already been doing:
Ch 54 is for ITV1/C4/C5 (East Midlands). C61 is for BBC East Midlands so you might need to add that as well (if your Humax has decided to go with West Midlands).
To find out which you're box is tuned to, watch BBC1 at 6pm. The ident proceeding the news will give the area.
