My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Dave, your trick with unplugging aerial to avoid the initial multiplex worked a treat.
Shame that I had to do it that way, and that I now have to endure South East News.
(Bring us back South Today in Brighton!)
Thanks for the advice.

Dave has put in his last blog that there was a Digital UK 2K equipment list. Does any one have the link?

my Freeview EPG would not give program info on channel 4 and 5 plus others.I replaced the old chimney mounted aerial with a new wide band type.Having reset my freeview it appears to only show info on all channels if the weather is fine.If it is wet then 4+5 etc are missing again.However if i select say channel 4 the picture is fine and the signal strength is good, but the info is missing.Any ideas??

ChrisB: Although its unlikely that this would be applying, but did you double check to make sure that your equipment picked up the ITV mux Ch59 from Winter Hill and not Ch49 from Moel-Y-Parc, as the predictor indicates that this is also (in theory) possible albeit at a lower strength.

On digital switchover here in Brighton I am having problems with all BBC Channels.I can do the first time installation routine and rescan and find all these channels, but it's a pain to have to do every time I switch on. Once I turn the tele off the digi box (DTR210)doesn't seem to remember where the BBC channels are. I deleted a whole bunch of channels I don't watch as suggested elsewhere on this forum but that didn't help. Any ideas?

Sarah: Are you suffering similar problems that I was ?
Your box still picks up the BBC signal from the Isle of Wight, and uses that rather than the higher powered Brighton one ?
Result is BBC channels vanish (or have massive break-up).
Dave's tip of unplugging the aerial during the initial about 25% of the channel scan worked a treat for me.

Sarah: Failure to retain all channels is usually caused by insufficient capacity in the memory of the tuner in the Freeview box. As you say deleting unwanted channels is the solution. Did you do a factory reset to clear the old frequency from the memory? Also, remember that MuxB will currently deliver duplicates of the BBC radio channels plus BBC4/CBeebies, BBC Parliament etc. These will also need to be deleted. This mux will no longer be a problem after DSO2 on 21st March 2012.

Ihave lost ITV 1, channel 4, BBC 5. I have a digital TV (I dont' have a freeview box).
What should I do?

Sarah: As suggested try running the scan with the aerial unplugged. Assuming that you are receiving your TV from Whitehawk Hill which is main transmitter in Brighton, then you should be OK with leaving the aerial out for the first 50%.
