The problem could be one of:

- the aerial has been moved or damaged;

- the cables or connectors that connect the digibox to the aerial are damaged;

- the digibox has broken.

If you have a "spare" digibox you use this to test the aerial connection. Can you still watch analogue TV OK?

I have the bush freeview + digital tv recorder but I can't get the tv stations on my sharp tv without the box on and using ext 2. If off and I select the tv option not external 2 I don't get any channels. I live in northern Ireland and switch over isn't until October.

I have a Sony integral Freeview TV & used to get pixelating on some channels so replaced my rooftop aerial about 3 years ago. Tonight suddenly all BBC services are not tuning & when I switch the TV off & on it is reverting to ITV1

Liz Fhima: If you have retuned and no longer have any BBC channels in the channel list the TV will select channel 3 as the first available channel when pressing 1 or 2 on the remote. You will need to do another retune when you are able to receive the BBC mux again in order to restore the BBC channels to the channel list.

Salcombe

I live in Devon at TQ8 8**. I received all digtal channels via aerial in the loft - we are in an area of oustanding natural beauty and are not allowed roof aerials. We are tuned towards the Salcombe transmitter and picked up all the digital channels on Freeview until the start of the Olympics and now all BBC chanels have disappeared completely. The TV is a two year old John Lewis set with a built-in digital tuner. I have gone through all the auto-retune and manual retune procedures advised by Digital Uk and there are no BBC channels. This is a problem shared by neighbours who have a new Sony TV set and friends further down the road with another brand of newish TV. All received BBC up until the end of July. I am told there are no faults on the Salcombe transmitter. Any ideas!!

Brian Wegg: The photographs of your road shown by Google Streetview are dated August 2009 and show what could be construction works in the field on the opposite side of the road. The satellite images are presumably more recent as they show three buildings in that field.

As these could be in line with the transmitter I wonder if some change there could be the cause. Have you noticed any changes in the area, particularly in the line between you and the transmitter?

I live in hereford and had no signal for days on both my freeview sets.There is not one channel working. In other words my freeview sets are obselete at present.This is ridiculous. Something should be done after everyone had to change to digital.

Up until recently we had reception in all of our bedrooms even though one was occasionally crackly. All of a sudden we don't get any channels. I have tried re-tuning the TV's which all have built in freeview and still nothing. Don't really fancy a huge bill from local company so any advice would be appreciated.

Mike: What method is used to feed the signal into the various bedrooms? because if its a powered splitter then for a test take its main aerial input lead out and connect it directly into one of the room feeds and then check if the signal has returned, that is provided you try the test in the correct room!

It would also have been of assistance to know your location (post code or one from nearby, eg: a shop) as this would have enabled the signal levels expected at your location to be assessed.

Many thanks for the assistance, it says on the unit that its an antiference xtraset 4, 4 outlet VHF/UHF amplifier for tv & fm, I've not checked the fuse and tried what I believe to be the main lead in every hole, we live in the hp15 area and the arial in housed inside ?

Mike: No, you have to completely remove the main aerials coax connector from the splitter and do likewise with one of the splitters output feeds to a room and connect them together, don't rely on any indicator lights seen on the splitter as all that does is let you know that the mains is switched on and not that its internal power supply is still OK which could have failed.

This splitter has to be eliminated as a possible reason for your problem before looking elsewhere, and "if" you are referring to the type with a black top and gold print these are very old units.

By the way you will require a coupler (female both ends) to try the direct linking of the two coax plugs.
