From Wikipedia: The channel had been available from launch on UPC Ireland, but was pulled on 22 March 2006. The channel had already been and remains available to Irish viewers on free-to-air satellite for some time, however it has not been listed in the Sky electronic programme guide since its removal on 25 January 2006. ITV3 took its channel number and bandwidth meaning all platforms could be launched simultaneously. - en.wikipedia.org read more about ITV3 on wikipedia (summary by Clipped).

Debbie: Yes, that's simply because that these programmes were still stored in the tuners memory and the only reason you could not see them was because of a technical fault at the transmitter, of course if you had carried out a rescan then you "would" have required to do it again before you could have picked them up, the reason why rescans should never be carried out as a matter of course just because a blank screen appears when certain programmes are selected, as the TV or box never (or very seldom) ever loses them.

SN6 8AZ with freeview from Oxford transmitter and using Sony LCD TV ( built in freeview and about 4 years old). Get all channels but ITV3 drops out about every month (just done it on 11 jan. 2013) and is replaced by BBC3 on my programme list. I retune for ITV3 again put it back in the programm list and all is well until about a month later it drops out again.
Use professional installed aerial and amplifier with feeds to 3 TVs of which the other 2 do not drop out!!
Any ideas for a solution.

Derek: If the other two TV's in use do not drop out on that channel then that indicates that either the TV that does has a somewhat lower sensitivity tuner coupled to the signal level being received on its aerial connection being a touch on the low side and which is possibly supplying a signal to the TV that is only just above the TV's reception threshold level and no more, but with it dipping down under this threshold now and again being the reason why you cannot view the channel and giving the impression that the channel has been lost, which of course it hasn't been and why retunes should never carried out as the channel is still in the tuners memory and will return of its own accord once the signal level lifts.
If the Sony TV can be moved then first of all try a signal strength test on mux Ch62 (ITV3) and note the level indicated, then temporarily move it to one of the other outlet points and try the same test there, if its virtually the same (or near) as before then the amplifier outlet point can be taken out of the equation and therefore its the TV's tuner being somewhat insensitive that is causing the problem.
This can possibly be cured by the use of an additional amplifier, although maybe the amplifier that's already installed is just not of a high enough gain, and so to get an idea of its gain ratings if its possible to access the amplifier could you gave an update on what's seen printed on its label.

Unable to get itv3 now on freeview channel 10, used to be able to get it no trouble, now saying 'Weak or no signal'. Postcode BA22 7HF. Any help to get it going again would be much appreciated. Thanks

Liddy: On the signal strength screen it should also indicate which UHF/RF channel (frequency) it is tuned to.
I presume that your aerial is likely to be directed at Mendip and its ITV3 is on C48 (690.0MHz).
Ensure that it is not tuned to Stockland Hill on C25 (505.8MHz) or Wenvoe on C42 (642.2MHz).

Hi Dave
Thanks for you quick reply. I have checked and no channels are received on 25, 42 or 48. We are able to get all other freeview channels as should be. Could you suggest what we could try next.
Many thanks

Liddy: There are different uses for the word "channel".
In the context of the number you select on your remote it is a "logical channel number" (LCN). That is, BBC One is on LCN 1 and ITV3 is on LCN 10, for example.
I was referring to the UHF (RF) channel number that ITV3 is being received on which is equivalent to the frequency.
Tune to ITV3 on LCN 10. Bring up the signal strength screen on which receivers usually say what UHF channel they are tuned to. This is sometimes given as a frequency in MHz instead, and I have given the equivalent frequencies for you, should this be the case with your receiver.
