What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

no signal friday and sat am. answer - wrong sort of snow - thick and wet. snowballed the disk (its 30ft up) until i got a good hit on the lnb cables which shook off the snow. later had to repeat to clear some of the disk, got a good signal then even though centre was covered. probably not recommended but worked a treat

I have Sky HD and keep getting an intermittent fault 'no signal being received' error code 25. Phoned SKY, checked everything, software updated, swapped F connectors, Ok for a few hours then again no signal. Often powering off from the plug or resetting sky box temporarily fixes, but fault soon returns. When no signal message seen, I always check settings and it indicates zero signal quality/strength for both channels. I do run these cables through a loft box, which also sends normal aerial to TV, which shows terrestrial signal strength 95% at all times, even when sat signal lost. Would it be possible to connector a satellite finder between the sky box and the output plate and would this confirm that at times when the sky box says there is no signal that none is actually being received? Anything else I could check? Thanks.

Darren Gray: A satellite signal can safely be taken as always being there whether or not a person can receive it, and with the only "dish connected" reasons for a person not doing so being in situations where either the dish bowl is covered in snow or traces of same are seen to have lodged on the face of the LNB, or in cases where a really heavy thundery downpour is in existence, as this can completely block microwave signals.
An LNB can of course develop a fault, but not usually on more than one of its output ports, although when you say that the Sky boxes feed from the dish runs through a loft box, do you mean in a terminated way or a continuous fashion with no breaks in the cable?
But though, its not exactly unknown for a Sky box to develop a power unit problem of a nature that causes the tuner to be supplied with a low voltage and with this resulting in it cutting out, and so this also has to be brought into the equation as a possible reason for the problem until it can be eliminated as such from suspicion, although unfortunately about the only way of doing this is by temporarily trying another box (any Sky type) on the dish, or by trying your box on someone elses dish.
Maybe you could give an update on the cable question though.

Thanks jb38 for your response. The Satellite feeds go from the LNB to a Loft Box where they are terminated and distributed to two different rooms - so yes there is a break in the cable. My question was, to possibly eliminate the dish and cable/loft box was whether a satellite finder could be placed between the sky box and the outlet plate to confirm when the Sky signal is lost that the satellite feed is lost/reduced. Could I continue to use sky with this attached? Hopefully this may then clearly point to a sky box fault rather than dish/cable fault. Thanks

Darren Gray: If you are referring to one of these low cost satellite finders that use either a pointer or an LED bar to indicate when a signal is being received then "yes" provided that its dish connection end is going directly to the LNB.
But though the aspect that somewhat puzzles me is by you having split the outputs so as to feed two separate rooms, because if you are doing this with a twin output LNB then this is OK with the qualification of, so long as a Sky (or Freesat) box is only connected into one pair of sockets at a time, otherwise a quad block is required for purposes of supplying two feeds to each location.
With regards to leaving the sat finder in circuit, the answer is yes! provided that its not seen to be reducing either the strength or quality on that input by any significant amount when the two inputs (LNB1 / LNB2) are compared to each other.

natalie: As your box is not responding to the remote control then try changing the batteries, or if none to hand remove the back cover and use your thumb to rotate each battery a couple of times as this cleans the contacts at each end of the battery.
If neither action resolves the issue then disconnect the box from the mains and wait about 30 seconds or so before reconnecting it again and take it from there.
