From Wikipedia: The channel had been available from launch on UPC Ireland, but was pulled on 22 March 2006. The channel had already been and remains available to Irish viewers on free-to-air satellite for some time, however it has not been listed in the Sky electronic programme guide since its removal on 25 January 2006. ITV3 took its channel number and bandwidth meaning all platforms could be launched simultaneously. - en.wikipedia.org read more about ITV3 on wikipedia (summary by Clipped).

Mary Anne: Now its known that your TV is a Sony then I can fully understand your difficulty, as Sony menu systems leave a lot to be desired as far as their lack of user friendliness is concerned, the added difficulty I have in attempting to provide a more detailed instruction being that KDL is the model number prefix used in all of their models.
However I now feel that your best policy would be to carry out a straight manual tune on Crystal Palaces C25 then check the results, this done by going into the "Digital set up menu DVB" then run down the list and select "Digital manual tuning" once found punch in 25 (using number buttons) followed by pressing the OK button and the tuner will search for programmes on C25.
My reason for suggesting a manual tune is that sometimes a weak signal can be captured via a manual tune that has been missed on a previous auto-tune, although you could if you wish just carry out another auto-tune and see if this captures the C25 signal as some times its the only way out of a problem, that said though its not good policy to repeat auto-tuning attempts without carrying out a reset in between, as the tuner is liable to become saturated whereby programmes can be lost when the set is switched off.
By the way, the only reason I wanted to know the results of a signal test on ITV1 was purely for comparison purposes between it on C26 and your problem C25, because if C26 was also on the low side then the easy way to resolve this with the minimum of inconvenience is by using a small, but highly effective, plug in variable level booster such as the SLX model sold by Argos, item no 107/1533 @ £11.99 as seen on page 507.

jb.38. I am doing something wrong, I think. When I go to the Manual retuning and put in C26 (which is, according to my TV) for ITV3 and other channels) it asks me if I want to store these. To which I have said "Yes". But they do not appear on my Guide List.

Mary Ann: C26 is Crystal Palaces ITV1 multiplex channel number and which I believe you already have in your guide list? its ITV3 (EPG 10) on C25 which you said in your original posting that was missing and so its this one that requires tuning.
Pleased that you have found the manual tuning menu though!

jb.38. I've done the C25 and yet ITV3 is not shown on the Guide as Freeview Channel 10, or anywhere I can see.
But as you say, at least I have found Manual tuning. Should I get a badge for this? Who has time to watch programmes with all this learning curve?
Now I just require Step 5 please. I appreciate your help. Thank you.

Mary Ann: Well considering what you had originally mentioned about not being a techie and with this coupled to my views on Sony menu systems, then I think you have succeeded quite well, but though on the issue of that said about ITV3 and not being able to see it mentioned anywhere, does this mean that you are also not able to view (20) Drama / (28) E4 / or (30) 5*? which of course you should not to able to do as these are all on C25.
Can you also confirm (or otherwise) that when using the manual tuning procedure after you had punched in C25 but BEFORE pressing the OK button, that no signal strength whatsoever was being indicated?
If this is the case, then purely for the purpose of finding out if your TV is actually capable of operating in this way anyway (because it might not be!) carry out a quick test as though you were intending to manually tune C23 (BBC) and see if the signal strength is indicated this time after punching in C23, of course whether it does or not do NOT press the OK button but just back out of the tuning menu again and give a report on your findings.
To be quite honest about it, with problems of this nature a persons hands are up to a point tied by not having a second TV to use for signal checking as I suspect that the signal is there but not at a level your TV can decode, this being why I was pushing the manual tune signal check procedure as this system is totally independent of the levels required to resolve a picture by being more allied to a proper signal meter.

jb.38. Good morning. Thanks for the email.
I am unable to view: 10 - ITV3, 20 Drama, 28 E4 or 30 - 5*.
I do receive 28 - E4!
You para 3 is correct, but having looked a little more closely at the box that appears I notice that
C23 shows no numerical signal strength but displays that 22 services are available including BBC1,2,3 BBC News and Red Button.
C25 shows a possibility of 35 services including 5*, 5USA, Channel 5 +1, QVC and Bid.
C26 shows a possible 9 services, including ITV, ITV2, ITV+1, Channel 4 and Film4.
At the moment it would appear that I do not get C20 - Drama, or C30 - 58*. Strange its, 10, 20 and 30. Hmmm
Thank you
