My Sky box has a "no signal message" - what do I do?
If you are getting the message "no signal" this would indicate that there is a problem with the signal from your dish into your box. Even without a card inserted into a Sky Digibox, if there is a signal, you will always get Sky Guide and the free channels.
Try powering off your box, remove the card, check carefully the cables, especially the connection to the dish, reapply the power and then when asked to insert your card you should then be able to see (for example) Sky News on 501 and the BBC News channel on 503.
Once you can see any channel, reinsert your card. This should, after about one minute, give you the channels you expect, such as 103, 104 and 105.
There are three ways you can attempt to reset your box. Please see
What can my do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' ?.
If you continue to get "No signal", you dish may have been misaligned, or there may be a fault with the cables and connectors, or a problem with the Digibox. You can see the signal strength by pressing SERVICES, then 4-SYSTEM SETUP and 6-SIGNAL STRENGTH.

Sirs,
ACCOUNT .220023881125
I have recently arranged by telephone with Sky viewing certain programs for a monthly payment of £13.50. It was agreed that instead of paying £10 for the use of recording facilities only, that I could follow light entertainment for that price, too.
When I turned on Sky today, I found to my amazement that not only light entertainment channels were taken off, but also all BBC and ITV channels, the news and everything that belonged to FreeView package. Sky Guide was showing, but nothing else.
You have taken £18.50 last month, and you will presumably take £13.50 this month, but will you please explain to me what is going on with my channels and what will £13.50 cover?
You do not seem to answer to my recent correspondence.
Regards,
Dobrivoje Vlajcic

d vlajcic: I would be very sensible to contact Sky. I would have a try at Sky Help .

if nothing has changed other than the receiver, then you probably need it replacing.

Hello there, wondered if you have any advice on the following problem before I resort to Sky. Mum's TV showed a 'no signal being received' late last night, have rebooted the Grundig basic Sky box this morning, no joy. Then swapped that for an old Thompson basic Sky box and got most channels with her existing viewing card but it won't receive Sky Sports (which she watches most of the time!), says that the card is not compatible with this receiver and to insert correct card or contact Sky. What are my options? Am thinking of upgrading her contract to at least Sky+ if it I have to buy another receiver ( will try and get a good deal because she's paid Sky thousands over the years!).
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Dave B: Cards used for the purpose of viewing Sky's subscription programmes are matched to the serial number of the box being used at the time of registration, this being the reason why the card will not work if any attempt is made to use it in another box.
If your Mum was intending to use the replacement box on a permanent basis then if Sky was notified of this they would change the access number programmed into card to suit the new box, this being done via an over air download.
As far as upgrading is concerned Sky+ boxes require two input feeds from the dish, this generally meaning that the LNB will require to be changed over to a quad version (twin types are no longer available) and with a second cable being run from the dish to the receiver.
