What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Not giving a post code means we have no clue as to what part of the country you live in. I will assume you have a standard 38 cm 'minidish' that is not giving sufficient signal when there is rain, snow, etc. It may be that consideration of changing the dish to a Zone 2 45 cm dish is worthwhile. The larger dish will be less susceptible to variations of signal reception due to the rain, etc. There is, of course, a potential cost implication.

Kate: That can be a symptom of a box with a defective power supply, the test for being to switch it completely off (from mains power supply) when it fails, then waiting 10 minutes or so before powering it up again, if this restores it to normal operation then this points to the aforementioned power supply problem.
By the way, do you have your own dish? or are you connected into a communal system?

We have carried out the restart as recommended by removing the sky SIM card and have noticed that there is a burn mark on the opposite side this the correct or is the the reason why our sky keeps freezing on occasions, when we have stormy weather our signal keeps being lost

Clancy: Most sky cards will start to show burn marks after a considerable period of time, and so I would discount that aspect as being connected in any way with your problem.
If when you say "stormy weather", you are NOT meaning heavy thundery type downpours which can cause loss of reception for a few minutes or so, as otherwise the problem of picture freezing can be caused by the dish mountings being slack and allowing the dish to move slightly in the wind, or the dishes view of the skyline being intermittently obstructed by vegetation such as from leaves on a branch of a tree etc, other causes being down to droplets of water having gained access to the inside of the "F" connectors on the dishes LNB.
You should carry out a signal check on the box and make sure that the strength and quality are level pegging at around a "minimum" of 50%, 70%+ being the ideal level and with the quality leading the strength, if its under then the dish requires slight trimming, this usually always in the horizontal (right / left) plane.

Hello,
I have just returned to our place in Spain which is near Sax, about 50km inland from Alicante. We have a 2m dish in the garden, set in concrete, with nothing near it. Our free to air has worked well but on this occasion we have lost a number of programmes and cannot now get BBC2 or ITV amongst others.
I have tried to search for new channels and reset the box (Pace 1.0.55) etc. We are tuned to 11.778 V 27.5 2/3. Signal strength is just below the half way and quality near the top.
Can you please advise what might be wrong and how we can correct it and what setting up method we can use that gain us a few more channels? Has anything changed at Sky that could be the cause ie more blocked channels?
Thanks
Mike

It is my understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that the satellite beam that you used before has been adjusted so it now does not cover much of the Spanish resorts any longer. The adjustment was made because of contractual requirements that the Sky transmissions should only be available in the agreed location, namely UK and Ireland. I belive it is all about the ownership of copyright and the agreements with such owners that restrict where the programme affected can be received.
What you can do about it is very limited.

Hi, I have had an intermittent problem with Sky for some time and have got the "No Signal" message. In the past I have simply turned off the power and left it for awhile and it has worked when I powered my Sky Box back up; however, today this didn't work! I found your guide above and whilst suggestions 1 and 2 didn't work, the 3rd one of re-installing the Sky Software did and I am now back up and running. Very many thanks for your helpful guide!!!!
