Paul: On the basis of what you had reported before leaving for work this morning I set the Hitachi PVR to record two programmes of a more lengthy nature over that of the 45 minute test recording I had previously reported as having worked perfectly OK, both programmes set for recording having running times of about 105 minutes or so and with one being set for recording on Film4 and the other for recording on Film4+1.

Checking the result of tests this evening rather indicates that things have deteriorated since the box was first stored away approximately two years ago, as the programme set for recording on Film4+1 (45) was also seen to have been recorded on Film4 (15) even although I had double checked that it hadn't been duplicated on the recording list, the other programme (Please Sir) set for recording on Film4 having been split shortly after an hour by its latter part being partially recorded on Film4 +1, this being similar to what you have experienced.

When I get around to finding the time to fish out my RS232 cable I intend to install the V13 upgrade as the boxes software version is presently 2.7, that said I don't really hold out much hope for the device as those software updates are up to a point a bit hit and miss as to whether or not they will improve the situation or even make it worse, although the whole thing is really being done as an exercise as I have two Humax Freeview PVR's I can use for recording, my wife though much preferring the user friendly menu system used in Vestel chassis devices.

"Film4 missing". ***Solved*** (for me...)

Hitachi TV (L24DG07U) - couldn't find Film4
Bush BU11FVRSD32/X Freeview+ recorder - couldn't find Film4
Digihome DVB915 Freeview box - Film4 found OK

I couldn't get Film4 since some time last year. Film4+1 was OK. The problem for me seems to be the Ridge Hill transmitter which broadcasts PSB2 on channel 25 _and_ channel 29. Channel 29 carries ITV1 and Film4 only. So when I scanned for channels, channel 25 settings were overwritten by channel 29 settings. (I don't know why the channel 29 version didn't work.)

The solution: scan for channels (probably best to scan as if for the first time), and then UNPLUG the aerial lead as the TV or digibox starts to scan channel 29. On the Hitachi TV this was indicated on screen. On the Bush recorder I had to work it out by guesswork (after 115 channels were found).

Hope this helps someone.

I'm having problems with Film4 on freeview channel 15 as it keeps switching off after a few seconds of play but on channel 045 film4+1 there isn't any problems, any thoughts. For your information I've auto tuned a number of times.

Just been reading the Ofcom proposal for 700mhz band and the possible cost of replacing television aerials and other equipment why not the mobile companies stand the cost if they are going to make more money out of this move

Im having problems recording from Film4, I can get the channel with no problems

But the box hardly ever starts recording if Im watching a different channel, the tv is turned off or Im recording something else on another channel thats on at the same time as what I want to record. And when it does decide to record it either doesnt start recording at the start time, stops early or carries on recording till I manually stop it

But if Im watching film4 and recording the same program then it records with no problems

Any ideas how I can solve this?

Programmes on Channel 4 , Channel 5 and Film 4 frequently fail to list until shortly before the broadcast is due to start. All other channels show full listings so this makes no sense. I have run channel search from initial setup several times but this makes no difference. It is just an irritation because it keeps giving me Welsh versions of programmes ( I live in Chester in England) and I have to swap them. Any ideas?
