I know I'm not the only person with a PVR but the freeview providers and the channel websites seem to think we all have set-top boxes - so we can do a global retune with impunity whenever they move mux. Why else would they not bother to give mux details?
Currently the Horror channel has gone missing (Crystal palace website still shows it on the old mux) and a global retune will take me 30-60 minutes to rebuild my recording schedules and favourite channel lists in my preferred order. I'm pretty sure all Humax machines do this - probably others too.
If I have the mux number it becomes a 5 minute job to retune that specific mux - and in the nether regions occupied by these moving channels there are seldom more than 2 channels per mux that will affect my setup.
NB. my Fox HD will even do a global retune on automatic - generally when I'm on holiday so nothing has recorded when I get back - it's doubly infuriating because they won't accept that losing one or two channels would be tolerable whereas a full auto retune negates 80% of the reason I bought the damned thing in the first place.

OK terrestrialtv website has it on Com4 (c25 Xtal pally) and yes... there it is.
Xtal pally website still has it on Com6 ...
Surely all this should have been common knowledge BEFORE the move?
I haven't checked all the channel websites since I got the key info - too busy checking and implementing - but it's still really weird that yesterday the Horror channel website had NOTHING about it and it only appeared as a BTW on their facebook page... a very "street" approach - don't you have anybody working there who is over 20??

Roy: Not wanting to defend the decision, but the coverage for multiplexes COM4 and COM6 are more-or-less identical there isn't really any reason to flag up movements between them.
Almost all modern Freeview equipment can move channels between multiplexes seamlessly. It's been in "the D-Book" for quite some years now.
It looks like the Horror Channel has done a direct swap with CBS Drama.

After the recent (Dec 11 2015) retune Horror channel is no longer working on my old Hitachi (early Vestel) 320GB SD PVR. Most other channels working fine, but Horror is showing a retune holding page even after a full retune replace channels (don't want to risk a "first time install" in case I loose the recordings)
Any ideas? My cheap (newer) Luxor SD Freeview TV tunes them just fine on the same aerial, so it's not an aerial issue, and a manual tune shows the missing/swapped channels, so it seems the Vestel is not parsing the EPG correctly or replacing it correctly.
I have had intermittent problems with this PVR with the newer channels introduced in 2015 like Horror and also when older niche channels like Travel have moved in the EPG. For instance I still have Viva showing on EPG74, Community on 790. YourTv never showed up at all (no great loss perhaps), nor CBS Drama, nor the freeview info page on 100
Some of this may be due to channels being moved into a HD Mux (although the channel is still SD)?

MilesT: If you are referring to a Hitachi HDR162 or similar? first time installation does "not" delete previously made recordings, a message to this effect appearing on the screen as soon as you press F.T.I., the procedure deleting all settings other than those recorded.
By the way, expect the Hitachi to go through a repeated disk checking procedure for about a minute or so prior to reverting to the tuning menu.

mary: Hi, Mary. Th Horror Channel is on Freeview channel 70. As long as you get your Freeview signals from a MAIN Full Freeview transmitter, you should be able to receive it, but if you get your tv signals come from a Freeview Light relay transmitter you won't be able to get it. Try TWO re-tunes, the first with you aerial lead unplugged, to clear the receiver memory, and then a second retune, this time with the aerial lead plugged back in again.Hopefully, the channel will then appear in your channel list. The channel to which you refer has been in my channel list since I did a retune in May earlier this year. Hope this helps, Richard, Norwich.
