Gail Hunter:

Now 80s is on the COM8 multiplex, see Channel listings | Freeview
COMs7&8 are only transmitted from some main transmitters. As StevensOnln1 says we need a full postcode to look at the predicted reception at your location which may indicate which transmitter(s) and multiplexes you might receive if you don't know which transmitter you are getting.
Also the direction your aerial is pointing and whether the rods are horizontal or vertical could be helpful.

The following main transmitters in Scotland have COMs 7&8 (but reception is dependant on location) -
Black Hill, Craigkelly, Darvel, Durris, and Angus.

charles: Please read the post immediately before your first one, it equally applies to you.

Rosalind Goodyear:

Do you mean "Freeview", you typed "freestat"? If so, then the post before charles is applicable.
Now 80s and Now 70s are not available on Freesat, there are on Sky.

Rosalind Goodyear: Now 80s is not on Freesat, although you may be able to tune it in manually if your TV has an option for non-Freesat mode.

Rosalind Goodyear: For manual tuning, you need to scan these transponders:

service frequency polarisation symbol-rate
NOW 70s 11582 H 22000
NOW 80s 11597 V 22000
NOW 90s 11553 H 22000

Rosalind Goodyear: If the TV is an LG then the Manual Tuning option will not be offered whilst Freesat is in operation.

You have to first select Automatic Tuning, where you can choose between Freesat and Other Operators.

Choose Other Operators and back out. You will be warned that all Freesat channels will be deleted if you proceed.

The Manual Tuning option will now be available.

The satellite for Manual Tuning defaults to Astra1 -19.2 degrees East, which is the wrong satellite, so you have to Add Satellite Astra2 - 28.2 degrees East.

It should now be possible to select satellite2 and the transponder list for it.

Choose the transponder you want to scan and Add.

The services will be added to the channels list.

Hi did you enjoy the Now 70s channel and the Now 90s channel when it was on freeview?
Yes.... so did I . I would love to have Now 80s on channel 83 but because I live near London , the closest transmitter which is crystal palace does not transmit that channel in my area, so channel 83 is just blank on my television.
So what can you do if you only have freeview, and not sky or virgin or freesat?
Ok if you have a smart TV and you have a broadband connection to that TV or WiFi just go to freeview channel 271 its called channelbox , and there is both Now 90s and Now70s plus a channel called clubland, which is rather like NIow90s , the other channels are not that good , but you do have France24 if you like french Tv. Hopefully one day they will put Now80s on channelbox . I hope this helps others
