Rodney Allen: If you are wanting a wideband Class 1 aerial the most popular is the DAT75 which would cost £70 or so but that is only the aerial itself. It is a very heavy item with a high wind loading so requires heavy duty pole and brackets for mounting. At your location if you want to receive the signals from Emley Moor a good quality group B yagi would probably be a better buy and be more manageable.

Nick: The Digital UK postcode checker predicts all muxes from Pontop Pike (including HD)are available with good reception at your location. Is your aerial mounted with the rods horizontal? (If they are vertical you could be using Fenham which has no HD mux currently) Check that you have no equipment such as a VCR or Sky box with the RF output set to C63.Have you tried doing a manual tune on C63?

Alan: The Digital UK postcode checker predicts that at present you will only receive Mux1 and MuxB, and these are with poor reception! It is true that as far as the PSB muxes are concerned you should have good reception after June 2011. The COM muxes could still give problems however. It is worth noting that Angus is shown as having a power increase in 2012, after which you might be able to receive all six muxes with good reception by changing to Angus.

SteveM: It is quite possible that the tuner in the tv which does not receive Mux2 correctly is not as sensitive as your other receivers. Sometimes expensive PVRs and IDTVs do not work as well as a cheap Freeview box from ASDA. Your tv should be tuned to C45- for Mux2 from Sandy Heath. Remember that after switchover in a few weeks time MuxD3+4 will be 9 times stronger than current Mux2, so should no longer give trouble.

Alan Payne : Freeview HD is on C44 from the Dartmouth transmitter. You will of course need a Freeview HD box or IDTV with a tuner which supports DVB-T2.

Gareth Smart: It is likely you are receiving Mux SDN from Wenvoe which is using C51 temporarily.

Terry r: If you use the Rowridge transmitter fit a group A type aerial for best gain over the frequencies in use. A good quality 18 element yagi should work ok unless you have any local obstructions in the signal path.

Terry r: A Yagi is a "traditional" type tv aerial. It is named after Dr. Hidetsuga Yagi who invented it in 1926 with Shintaro Uda. According to Wikipedia Dr. Yagi was a professor at Tohoku Imperial University in Japan.

Adrian: If you currently have good analogue reception from the Wharfedale transmitter you should have no problem receiving the 3 PSB muxes which will give all BBC channels, ITV1,ITV1+1,ITV2,C4,Channel 5,E4,More4 and C4+1 plus MuxHD. I tried a postcode LS29 7QY in the Digital UK postcode checker and it showed for that area a full freeview service to be available from Emley Moor after DSO.Currently it predicts good reception for Mux1,MuxB, MuxC and MuxHD only. Glance at your neighbours aerials to see if there are any new ones installed with rods horizontal for reception of Emley Moor.

Frank: I don't think reception will deteriorate on all transmitters to the extent that you have no channels.I tried a couple of postcodes and Crystal Palace, Sandy Heath and Sudbury all offer full Freeview to various parts of the locality. Basically if you enjoy good analogue reception now you should receive the PSB muxes without problems. The COM muxes could in some areas be affected by signals from other transmitters on the same frequency, however you should be able to receive a useable signal from one of the alternative sites if this became a problem.
