Mike Fisher: C27 is Mux ArqB from Ridge Hill. If it works ok don't worry, the signal from Bromsgrove is on C34 but at low power until September.

Claire Nichols: What is your analogue reception like at present? In most locations you will get at least a signal for the PSB muxes which matches the coverage of the analogue service.Regarding the lack of a scart socket, it is possible to find freeview boxes with an in-built RF modulator. This will deliver the output of the freeview box to your tv via the aerial socket. Make sure you buy a new box though, second hand Ondigital boxes are useless after switchover as they do not support the 8k mode.If you have a VCR with a scart socket you can use the modulator in the VCR to "transmit" the freeview channels on a scart only box to the tv. If you pop your postcode into the Digital UK postcode checker, tick the trade box, you will see which transmitters are expected to serve your location.Remember though the prediction assumes the use of a roof mounted aerial.

john legan: The Digital UK postcode checker predicts zero reception for muxes 1,2,A and B from the Waltham transmitter at present so any reception you have had is above expectation. On 13th April 2011 the frequency of Mux2 was changed to C31 to avoid co-channel interference with the new high power digital service from The Wrekin in overlap areas. Unfortunately some fringe area viewers now have interference from analogue signals from Crosspool or Fenton and many others have experienced poor signal quality when trying to receive the new frequency. Did you do a factory reset to erase all memory of the old frequency before rescanning or doing a manual tune on C31? After switchover on 31st August 2011 you are predicted to have good reception on MuxD3+4. At present Belmont is shown as offering good Freeview reception but you would of course receive Yorkshire/Lincs local news rather than East Midlands.

M Pinto: You are missing MuxA and MuxHD which are transmitted on C32- and C31 from Crystal Palace. You should have good reception on all seven muxes at your location. You might be looking for a source of single frequency interference, ie a Sky box, games console or VCR with the RF modulator set around C31. This would block both of the missing muxes. Check that your cables and connectors are all in good order. It is also possible that trees in leaf growing in the signal path are selectively blocking the C31/C32 frequencies. If you have an analogue receiver check if reception on Channal 4 on C30 and BBC2 on C33 is good and free of interference.

Mark A.: In most cases the digital power on the PSB muxes is one fifth of the analogue power. In practice this usually gives coverage on the digital service which is at least as good as the former analogue transmission. At your location the Digital UK postcode checker shows you are predicted to receive a full Freeview service direct from Heathfield.

karen: Waltham is at 221 degrees, roughly SW from your location. Aerials on Belmont point in a NNE/NE direction at 31 degrees. The Digital UK postcode checker predicts a full service from Waltham but only four muxes from Belmont, no prediction being offered for MuxC or MuxD. Have you checked the 800s of the channel list for duplicate BBC channels? It is possible that weak Belmont channels were found and stored before the stronger Waltham signal was found.Regarding MuxA from Waltham it is just possible that analogue Channel 4 on C29 from Bilsdale is strong enough to cause interference. After Bilsdale switchover Mux SDN is shown as variable reception for you from Waltham. Did you try doing a factory reset before scanning in case any channel information was already stored which was confusing the tuner?

Pieter: If BBC3 is perfect check in the 800s of the channel list for a BBC1 and/or BBC2 that work. You are in range of several transmitters and have possibly stored the channels for a signal that is too weak to give reliable reception. Problems with C59 could be due to signals from Bluebell Hill receiving interference from Tunbridge Wells MuxD.

Craig: Regarding poor quality on C39, C42+ and C45+. You might be receiving interference from Bluebell Hill.Note too that C39 is used at Reigate and just over the horizon analogue services from Hannington use all three frequencies. It is possible that careful re-positioning of the aerial could lose the unwanted signals, giving better quality on the required signals.

Craig: A log periodic is relatively low gain but is probably the best one for ignoring unwanted signals from different directions/opposite polarisation. Raising the height of the aerial usually results in a stronger (and cleaner) signal being received, but bear in mind that if the problem is a distant transmitter being received alongside the required signals, raising an aerial can also enhance the unwanted signal.Be prepared to experiment with different aerial heights and if possible different locations around the property. Sometimes using the house or chimney stack as a screen against an interfering signal improves matters.

Josh:All the standard definition muxes at Belmont switch to 8k mode on 17th August 2011.There will however be a power restriction on Muxes ArqA and ArqB until 23rd November 2011.
