R Anderson: Check in the 800s of the channel list for a set of channels that work correctly. It is possible that you have stored channels from a weak signal from The Wrekin in the normal slots. Otherwise wait for switchover step 2 on 21st September when all muxes will be using 200kW transmitters at Sutton Coldfield.

Mike Dimmick: Thanks for the info. The postcode checker is usually correct in such matters. I wonder if there were concerns about C56 usage possibly causing interference to the signal from Salisbury.

Jon Abbott: If you tune to MuxD3+4 from Mendip this will not change frequency so recordings can be set for ITV1&2, C4, C5 etc; also MuxBBCA at both Oxford and Mendip will continue to use their current frequencies. All other muxes at Oxford and the COM muxes at Mendip will however all change frequencies on 28th September 2011.

Robert Armstrong: If you receive signals from the Buxton relay, no. However if you have a suitable aerial pointing at Winter Hill, Mux ArqB will increase power on 21st September 2011 and is predicted to give good reception at your location from that date, subject to there being no local obstructions such as trees or tall buildings in the signal path.

Derek and Louise: Mux ArqB (Film4 etc) was using C67 when you were unable to receive it. Mux ArqB has now changed frequency to C48, and MuxC (Sky News, Dave etc) is now using C67, which explains why you have gained Film4 but lost Sky News. The Digital UK postcode checker predicts good reception of C67 at both locations, so the current non-reception of MuxC is likely to be due to single frequency interference affecting C67, or the aerial does not perform very well at this frequency. It could also be that the aerial is positioned in a null for that frequency and moving it slightly to either side or raising/lowering it would give reception of the missing mux. The situation is due to change again on 23rd November 2011 when MuxC/ArqA changes frequency to C52, adopts 64QAM and 8k mode working and increases power.

Bob: After clearing the channel list try doing a manual tune on C67 and C48 and see if the channels are then found. It is possible that when doing an auto scan weak signals from Crystal Palace are found first and (unwatchable) channels stored. MuxC from Sandy Heath might then be overlooked as a duplicate, and Mux ArqB being in 8k mode would be seen as a new set of channels and placed in the 800s of the channel list due to the "normal" positions being already occupied.

Bernard Hatt: There are currently just two retune days planned for your area for DSO. These are 4th April 2012 and 18th April 2012.

Nick: You need to make sure that the receivers are storing the channels for the transmitter that your aerial is pointing to. When doing an automatic scan Belmont is found first for Mux BBCA, Sandy Heath for Mux D3+4 and Waltham for Mux SDN. If possible do a manual tune for the set of frequencies used on the chosen transmitter. If only autotune is possible try inserting an attenuator in the aerial feed just for the duration of the scan, this should with a bit of luck reduce the strength of signals arriving from the side of the aerial sufficiently for them to be overlooked. One other thought is if you have two aerials linked via a diplexer the out of group COM mux channels will be very weak or missing from each transmitter.

Kathleen: You should have excellent reception of Mux2 from Oxford on C68. Check that you have not stored the channels from Hannington on C43+ instead, as these appear first in the scan. Another possibility is interference from a Sky box is blocking reception of Mux2. C68 is used as the default frequency for the RF modulator on some Sky boxes.

marie: You are currently predicted to have variable reception of Mux2 (ITV1, C4 etc) and MuxD (Film4, ITV4 etc) After switchover you should have excellent reception of the high power Mux D3=4 which replaces Mux2. The COM muxes will unfortunately start off at reduced power and show various changes to reception over time as switchover progresses in other areas.
