Giuseppe: Check the 800's in your channel list for another ITV1 which should be from Crystal Palace. If there is no alternative it will indicate that you have no signal or a corrupted signal on Mux2 from Crystal Palace. As it is it suggests that Bluebell Hill is a stronger alternative. The aerial direction, incidentally is only 44 degrees difference between CP and BH. If you do have a usable ITV1 from CP do a manual tune of the Crystal Palace frequencies, after first clearing the channel list by doing a factory reset, to select the desired set of channels.

Mark: Have you tried receiving a signal from the King's Lynn relay which is sited at Sandringham? Mux BBCA for East Anglia is currently transmitted on C49- (due to change to C40 in 2013, date TBA). Aerial needs to point South and set for vertical polarisation.

Giusseppe: Check that the aerial is still sited correctly and is pointing in the correct direction, also check that cables and connectors are in good order. You mentioned that the analogue reception is not that good, has this always been the case since the aerial was installed or did it deteriorate slowly over time? If it used to be good and nothing has obviously changed in the signal path, such as trees growing or tall buildings being constructed, it could be that the aerial has corroded or the cable has let in water. On the other hand it could also be that the aerial is positioned in a null for the Mux2 signal and needs slight re-positioning. You also need to check for single frequency interference, looking for a Sky box or VCR with the RF modulator set to C21. If reception is good on the other muxes you might consider it to be best to wait until after switchover in April 2012, when the transmitter power is increased tenfold to 200kW, before deciding if it is necessary to pay for aerial work.

David: This is quite normal in the Northwest where there is a considerable overlap in the coverage of the Winter Hill and Moel-Y-Parc transmitters. As M-Y-P frequencies are found first during the scan any channels found are stored in the LCN (normal) positions in the channel list, with variations often being stored in the 800's. Clear the channel list by doing a factory reset, then manually insert the Winter Hill frequencies if your this is possible on your receiver. Otherwise start the scan with the aerial unplugged, wait until scan reaches C53 then plug the aerial in to scan the Winter Hill frequencies.

lambert: In common with most relay transmitters the Poole relay will only transmit the three PSB muxes "Freeview Light". The channels you will receive include all BBC TV and (national) radio stations on MuxBBCA, from Mux D3+4 you will have ITV1, ITV2, ITV1+1, C4, C4+1, E4, More4 and C5. If you have an HD receiver fitted with a DVB-T2 tuner you will also receive the Freeview HD channels. Whilst there are no COM muxes this is still more than the four analogue channels currently available!

Dave Pointer & Paul Cox: a point worth noting is that Mux ArqB from Tacolneston will change frequency to C39+ probably in 2013 if not before. At the same time MuxBBCB will change frequency to C50. Also C37 is penciled in for COM8 from Tacolneston, if this service takes to the air. You could try C21 which is clear in Norfolk, not sure though about which frequencies are in use at high power in Holland which could become a factor. Otherwise try the frequencies over C63 in the 4G block and change again if necessary when you know what is planned in the locality.

John Jones: I am wondering if the "old amplifier" is actually a diplexer, which combines the signals from the two aerials, the crossover frequency being C54. You are now missing muxes SDN on C48 and ArqB on C52 which if there is such a diplexer are being blocked by the filter. Try using an aerial pointing to Mendip fed directly to your box and see if reception is restored to all muxes. The aerial on Cirencester gives C23 and C29 which are relays of C61 and C54, so as long as the reception of the Mendip signal is good you do not need to have the Cirencester aerial linked in. (I would still keep it as a second aerial though, I am a firm believer in back-up to cover unforeseen circumstances.) Do a manual tune if possible on C48 and C52 to check if there really is no signal before doing any alterations. Additional info,it may be of interest that C61 will be changed to C49 at Mendip probably in 2013 after this frequency has been released at Wenvoe.

Bernard: Are you referring to a VHS video recorder? If so, most VCRs are only fitted with an analogue tuner, hence the internal tuner will no longer work after the analogue transmitters have been turned off. To record anything now you will need to connect a Freeview box to the scart socket on the VCR then select the A/V input before starting the recording. Selecting the channel you wish to record is done therefore on the Freeview box.

JP Richardson: Further to the replies from jb38 and Dave Lindsay, if you are using Bilsdale for your Freeview reception, Digital UK do not make a prediction for reception of MuxD on C42 at present due to this frequency also being in use at Hunmanby for Mux BBCB.
