Tom Ross: The current DAB transmitter rollout programs for BBC and local multiplexes are supposed to be completed by the end of this year, but I haven't seen any dates for particular transmitters listed anywhere.

Andy: a516's site is generally pretty reliable. I've no idea where the data for future frequency allocations comes from for this site as Ofcom haven't made any firm announcements of future allocations yet.

Jackie W Brown: The BBC have added a number of temporary channels for their Olympic coverage, a retune would have been required for your TV or box to add these channels if it didn't already add them automatically.

Map of all DAB transmitters

david worth: The current planned rollout of local DAB transmitters is due to be completed by the end of this year. I've not seen anywhere that gives planned launch dates for individual transmitters.

Jason warrior: Sound Digital only covers around 75% of the UK population and is intended to operate at a lower cost for broadcasters by initially only using 45 transmitter sites rather than the 160+ that the D1 national mux uses. Coverage may well be improved in future as Ofcom have given clearance for many more transmitter sites for Sound Digital to use, however I think it is unlikely it will ever reach Shetland if you don't already get D1 now.

Mark A: Red Button 2 & 3 were active last summer on PSB3 multiplex and were left as placeholders. They have now moved to COM8 and will be carrying Olympic coverage (there are 8 red button streams in total - 2 on PSB1 and 6 on COM8).

Mark A: All 8 streams are on satellite in SD and HD, your box should add them automatically under the channel names BBC Olympics 1-8

Caldbeck (Cumbria, England) DAB transmitter

Derek Hill: It sounds like something is causing interference during the evening which wipes out the DAB signal. This is most likely something operating on a timer switch so check for anything in your home (and ask next door neighbours) for anything switching on at 18:00.

John Williams : You may have slightly too much signal which causes the tuner to be overloaded and appear as if the signal is too weak. HD channels are more susceptible to this than SD channels. I overcame this by plugging in an attenuator to the incoming aerial cable to reduce the signal level (see link below). I would suggest buying different strengths, which you can try separately or plug in together inline to reduce the signal strength further if required.

michael Hart: Either you're watching ITV HD which doesn't yet have a Tyne Tees version or the aerial at your new house is receiving it's signal from a transmitter in the Granada region. If you post a full postcode we'll be able to see which transmitters you should be able to receive and offer further advice.

michael Hart: Are you in a new build, as your postcode isn't giving any result? A random postcode picked from Google Maps in Newton Aycliffe is show good coverage from Bilsdale (approximately East-South East) and Pontop Pike (approximately North-North West) which are both in Tyne Tees region. Does your aerial point in either of these directions or to somewhere else? A compass bearing would be great, but approximate direction would otherwise help work out where your signal is coming from.
