jpreece: Extremely doubtful.

There's no such thing as a "digital aerial" as against "analogue aerial".

What you would be trying to do is receive from Wenvoe, as it carries all the channels. However, even though it's only 12 miles away, you're a long way off seeing it, as this terrain plot shows:

Terrain between ( m a.g.l.) and (antenna m a.g.l.) - Optimising UK DTT Freeview and Radio aerial location

All in all, think you're better considering Freesat.

Ken Torson: Are you sure that it's tuned to Winter Hill on C59 and not Haslingden on C23 or Saddleworth on C39?

Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) transmitter

Mike Davison: I won't be adding an amplifier just to pick up this channel! Besides, upstairs rooms use loft aerials and, whilst I haven't tried, I imagine that it won't be receivable with them.

Geoff Hall: The transmitter has been off air.

Why why why are you retuning?? All you will do is cause more problems because your TV won't be tuned so you won't know when the transmitter is back.

Viv Lambert: The most common cause of such an occurrence is that it's tuned to the wrong transmitter. Due to the terrain, in Hove reception possibilities vary. There are some small transmitters which fill in coverage and which may therefore have been picked up in lieu of Whitehawk Hill (adjacent to the racecourse), if your daughter's aerial faces it.

Knowledge of the exact location in the form of postcode would allow an idea of what transmitters may be receivable. From this we can check whether the TV is tuned to the transmitter to which the aerial faces or to another one.

John: No, not ever. You might like to consider Freesat, if you don't stand a chance of receiving all channels from Pontop Pike.

Will there ever be more services on the Freeview Light transmitters?

steve: No, not before the end of 2017 (IIRC).

The plan was drawn up to offer these services from 30 transmitters. This will incentivise purchase of equipment with Freeview HD (DVB-T2) tuners in-built. In four or five years time things may change and the services currently with limited coverage (BBC News HD etc) may become more widely available.

Jeff Jones: Not before 2018. This is because the new quasi-national multiplex which carries BBC Four HD and others is only from 30 transmitters and is intended to incentivise purchase of Freeview HD (DVB-T2) receivers. Around 2018 the current setup may be changed and so these HD services may get wider coverage.

Jeff Jones: Good idea, if it's available.

gary porter: Check that BBC Four HD is tuned to Belmont on UHF channel 33 and not Waltham on C31. Also, COM7 (C33) from Belmont is on lower power than the rest, according to Digital UK it is 37kW but this is by no means "low" and should be expected to be ample to serve you (possibly local obstructions excepted).
