Still no signal in Ramsbottom area or is this just my brand new tv only bought Friday but it was on until last night. Could it be my airiel or is it transmitter, how do I know?

Patricia Boothman: If you are receiving your signal from the local Ramsbottom transmitter located at just over 1 mile away, then no faults have been reported as yet, although this does not necessarily indicate that there isn't any, especially if it involves failure of the electricity supply to the station.

Your best policy would be to make an enquiry with a neighbour to find out if they are being similarly affected, that is if they are also using the Ramsbottom transmitter, a way to tell being if the elements on their aerial are seen to be vertically mounted and "not" horizontal.

I lost freeview signal on my small tv with the free review box and dvb freeview signal on my larger tv after the storm last week. On the small tv I get a blue screen and when I press the AV button no channels return. I cannot get into the freeview channel to resetchannels. When I switch to DVB on the larger tv the screen says no signal and when I go to channels the list of channels show but with no information and it says 'No programme information available'. I do not understand technology as an older person and the instructions to unplug the arial in the small tv and replug does not work. Can I get this problem sorted out with the suppliers of the free freebox without having to pay. Also who do I contact.

Ms Alexander: Sorry, it sounds like your aerial has a fault, possibly caused by the storm. The TV isn't getting a signal, hence the blue screen (there is probably that message on the screen as well). The TV/box are working fine, their just not getting anything, and they are telling you that..

You could see if the aerial lead/s at the back of the set, etc have come loose or out. If they have then everything should work fine, but if they are OK, it sounds like your aerial needs looking at. Unfortunately, that is going to cost you. I'm sure someone might be able to suggest someone reliable in your area, but general advice is not to choose anyone with an 0800 number or something similar, or just a mobile number on a flyer. To have a completely new aerial and good cable, £150-180 is reasonable, although it might be a bit cheaper than that, depending on where you are and who does it (but certainly less than £200 all in).

However, someone might look at your system, find out its something small, such as a broken connection, and charge you relatively little. Hopefully, this will be the case.

Can anyone receive freeview from two transmitters with only one aerial? Our aerial is pointing towards Waltham, but we're also receiving Belmont signals as well, which means we get two lots of every channel, with local news from Waltham and also from Belmont. Any one else in the same boat?

John Martin: Yes that's possible, although bear in mind that Belmont reception might not be perfect, if for no other reason than the aerial is facing the wrong way. That said the back of aerials are quite sensitive (the least sensitive are the sides).

I'm in Doncaster and my aerial is directed to Emley Moor but I can tune to Belmont which is in the opposite direction.

We are experiencing poor reception on all of the BBC channels, this has been on-going over the past 4-5 weeks.
I've attempted to clear all channels and rescan as advised, but the problem persists.
There are a number of large trees adjacent to the property, but this hasn't been a problem in recent years.
Freeview in integral to the TV.
Any suggestions to improve quality of reception most welcome!
